For your original question as phrased in the subject, no, you can only edit in your editable area. But yes, you can expand your editable area and can be AM of an area outside of where you live (in the US)... IF you can say why you know it (former home, you travel there multiple times a year, etc) IF there aren't already a bunch of active AMs in the area IF you have a good record as an editor IF the area you are requesting isn't huge IF you pass all the other checks and reviews we use on each and every AM request.

You can tell by looking at it from the front....the windshield has a purplish tint to it. I use an A/C vent mount but I don't think with this type of windshield it would make any kind of difference even if I had a different mount.

I think it looks fine. I'd think the "normal" direct angle would still give the correct turn instructions.

Yes, some state and local governments are providing private maps through their websites that are definitely protected by copyright. That's why you can never assume what you get from a non-federal website is free from copyright.

Whoops, I didn't look into this situation enough. In the City's GIS, there is no road there. On Street View, it looks like that might technically be some apartments and that's technically their road. Also, the roads are two way. Now redo all your discussion :p In general, I have found a lot of the U shaped roads in subdivisions and they are almost never labeled as being one way (despite the basemap having them as one way, in real life they are not signed and are wide enough for two way).

The user delivers pizza and was trying to get unit numbers to work. I'm not sure why it happened with a non-existant road last night...I ended up deleting the road completely since it doesn't exist. I'd like to know if it had numbering from the basemap. It's one of those paper streets that never got developed.

I noticed that in some cases Waze allowed me to force numbers far away from the street, and in some cases not. Well, in Russia using the house numbers system is still to problematic to bother. We have most houses situated on unnamed driveways, sometimes almost a kilometer away from the named street.

TTTFTTTTFT That will cause all sorts of routing problems when the destination is on these streets. You have to manually add a dead-end node on any new dead-end street you draw. Those nodes also disappear sometimes when you adjust the geometry of a dead-end street. You can also search the forums for a script called Junction Node Fixer which will help you to add dead-end nodes without having to draw a second segment. http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Best ... _dead-ends Also (unrelated to address lookups), the little segment that connects St. Kitts Ct. with Carribbean Dr is not connected on the western side. It serves no purpose on the map if it's not connected. Note that the end-node fix won't help if the address database doesn't have the addresses in the proper place. I think most editors keep them dimmed most of the time to avoid accidental clicks that aren't always obvious.

Given how much work is involved in getting a camera approved (visit the site, submit a camera report via the app, cross your fingers and hope it shows up in WME at some point, fine tune the position, set the speed, approve it, wait for the next map update, revisit the site and check it shows up OK, repeat as required until it actually works as expected...) it'd be a real pain in the arse if any cameras were to then be lost as a result of a few people deliberately or accidentally marking them as not present and then being caught up in the auto-delete process before anyone had noticed their changes of state... ...it wouldn't be a bad idea if the camera data could be tweaked to store a third "previously-approved-but-voted-back-into-unapproval" state alongside the current approved/unapproved ones - so that a) WME could then highlight these cameras differently to the swathes of unapproved ones that genuinely are cluttering up the map, and b) the auto-delete process could treat them more leniently (or, ideally, ignore them completely and leave it up to the local editors to remove them once it'd been confirmed they were no longer present out in the real world).

Searching for unplaced gas stations

Yeah, I'll be checking. But keep in mind that this happened the exact same day. I verified the price, then checked the map a couple of hours later and saw that the station there was marked as gas station, but had no name or brand. Someone could have edited it within the past 24-48 hours or so, but this area isn't as active as other areas, so I kind of doubt that. Oh well, I'll just have to see what I can find, if anything. Usually F5 refresh has done it for me. Just you will have to start over. Sometimes there's issues like that, I've had them about 3 times the last 5 days. F5 worked for me.

I'm trying to edit some roads, but I can't Tried to delete them and save, but there's a message saying there's an error. OK, thanks Alan. I've started to go through and correct what I can, but some of it is locked at Level 5 by txemt. I'll contact him to fix the few I can't touch. I found another big problem with the Lackland AFB Annex, just to the west of the base. I haven't been down that way in the month I've been using Waze, so I'll try and swing by so I can unlock it to fix it. I used to work on Lackland so I'm pretty familiar with the area, but haven't been down to the base since my surgery.

We need either a permalink to the area that you expect the turn and don't get it or address/general cities for start and destination so we can run it thru the live map to see where the problem is. It's one of the reasons editors really do need a way to communicate with the Wazer who posts the UR. Apparently it's in the plans to provide one. I just solved a UR -- really, the Wazer had posted about seven in the same area -- through sheer guesswork, only because there were so many around the housing area. Most people won't do that, they'll just do one, and it's often impossible to figure it out based only on the traces (which are often missing or broken). Sometimes when I can see the trace goes one way and the Waze route goes another, I can almost guarantee it's because the driver knows the area and just figures the other way is better.

INTL server not updated for two weeks? Something really bad happened. And too many Ghost segments because of rollback. Makes map uneditable in these places. And we have many repair works, which make waze users angry.

Part of your problem is likely to be that the International Server is "up the spout" at the moment. Might be able to resolve once the tiles are brought up to date. In the meantime all editing is tricky, at best. Ghost Roads will be appearing all over the place until this is resolved. But won't be appearing on the App as it's not being updated at present. Thanks for finding this! Waze has historically had problems with "river islands" and they recently made some updates in the US. I will pass this location on to them to find out if they can get it updated.

OK, I've found more info, and a slight workaround. The update requests for this area are currently on a bit of a hold, since txemt is our only active AM (that I can determine) and he's working on a special project of some sort. I'm trying to deal with as much of the local San Antonio load for him as I can, but I haven't driven completely around the city yet to unlock it, but that's a different issue for a different time. Someone has deleted part of the main road (and renamed it). I did report the problem, and got answer, that is it done, but it isn't! It totally messes up routing in whole area! And it is like that for weeks now. I just found out that there are, apparently, some addresses which have a leading zero (0) which is significant. This is very odd, and something which isn't currently supported within the Waze House Numbers system. For reference, it appears GMaps doesn't support it exactly, but if I do searches for addresses with/out the leading zero, GMaps does give the correct different locations. Example: 0224 SW Hamilton St, Portland, OR and 224 SW Hamilton St, Portland, OR. Not sure if this is something supportable, but if alpha or non-numerical values may be supported, that suggests that a leading zero could also be supported as the field changes from numerical to string.

Though technically not a "private/gated community" area, the use of Private Drive road type may be advised in special situations where Waze wants to route you through such an area. I had two near me. What I did was actually drive through it several times as directed by Waze. Eventually, it figured out that it wasn't any faster than the correct way around. Waze can only work reliably with good data. Sometimes it thinks a certain way is faster due to bad data and it just needs to "learn" it. This may not work in all areas as a 1/4mi long neighborhood shortcut may really be much faster than the 1-mile primary street/highway around-way. If Waze can't learn from the data then a private road may be advisable. There is a significant penalty for routing FROM a private road back to any other type of segment, so it will avoid it. Also, look for other junctions in the area on the expected route which may be restricted incorrectly, causing Waze to look for other unrestricted routes.

After couple of months I just finished adding house numbers in my town (ca. 65k citizens), except few special cases (House numbers containing alphabet characters and one segment which have different street names on opposite sides) and still can't wait till it will be available in search results in client. any info when internal house numbers will be used for address search?

You'll get this error until that tile is back in sync after the roll-back. Very annoying, I know, but the world server takes a long time to completely refresh and, until it's complete, we'll get these sync errors in various places. Wait until the Status page shows the refresh is complete. If you continue to get the error after, you'll probably need to raise a support call. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
