Another satisfied contest winner

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Since our last update, New Jersey and Pennsylvania have also entered the winner’s circle, getting to more than 100 unique road reports each. Want to give your state a little boost to increase your chances of winning? Spread the word about waze to your friends and ask them to send a report from the road, too. It’ll bring both of you that much closer to your choice of a MyTouch 3G Android phone or an iPhone 3GS – just like NY winner, asy4life, pictured below, sporting his new MyTouch phone in style…ny-winner

Waze 6 minutes demo at DEMOfall09

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Here’s noam’s 6 minute demo yesterday at DEMOfall09

DEMOfall annoucement: Waze is now available on most smartphones including Windows Mobile, Symbian, Iphone and Android

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

demofall09_172x271Our CEO, Noam Bardin, will demo waze today at the DEMO fall conference.  DEMO is one of the most central events in the consumer tech space.  The format of the conference is great.  Here’s how they describe it:

Each company is given just six minutes on the DEMO stage to truly demonstrate how their product will change the world. No PowerPoint or flashy corporate presentations allowed. Just the founders and the technologies many are staking their careers on… it doesn’t get any more straightforward and fast paced than that.

At DEMO, we’ll announce the multiplatform availability of waze! As of today most smartphone users can download waze to their phones and join in on the building of the world’s first free driver generated live map,  real time road info, and turn by turn navigation service.  We are working on more and hope to support Blackberry soon.

Dreams do come true with Waze (Waze across America contest update)

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Since we began the waze Across America contest a little over a month ago, we’ve had thousands of people wazing around and sending road reports all over America. As of today, the states of California, Texas, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York and Virginia have all sent out over 100 road reports by unique users through waze. In accordance with our contest, we have given away either a Mytouch 3g or an Iphone 3GS to one lucky person in each state. All we asked was that winners kindly send us a picture with their prize and to our utmost delight, our Massachusetts winner did not disappoint. Here is a picture of ‘Izar” and his brand new mytouch 3g courtesy of waze

If there are any other contest winners reading this, please send us a pic with your phone!!

There is still time left in the contest and we still have three phones to give away. In the meantime, be sure to send out plenty of reports and encourage everyone you know to do the same. It may end up winning you a brand new phone :)

New features heads up: Wazers nearby, Wazer Royalty and more…

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

In our next release (which we hope to release to android within a few weeks) there’ll be several small changes, two of them more special and social.

  • The first feature, Wazers nearby,  shows you the closest fellow wazer within a certain radious.
  • The second feature, Wazer Royalty,   highlights that wazers that contribute most with a crown.  Because we’re in process of changing the points system – the criteria for getting the crown is still being discussed.

  • And there’s more… addicted road munchers will love this one: in settings, ability to set preference for a  dot eating-intensive route to your destination.  We’re adding fun to new road recording… when recording your car is transformed into an animated asphalt roller.  Curious about a nearby wazer? You’ll be able to click on the wazer and view points and rank details.

Many of these were suggested by you. So keep them coming!

We had a great week at waze. We reached an all times high, in all metrics:  Traffic to the site. Downloads, Concurrent users, and Daily user reports. The map was LOADED.

Also got a great review on Lifehacker.com and many mentions by blogs that helped us recruit Windows Mobile and Symbian alpha users as we are getting close to the official release of these platforms.  Thanks  gadgetsteria.commobilitydigest.comppcgeeks.com, wmexperts.com1800pocketpc.compocketnow.com, fuzemobility.comtheunwired.net for the mentions and help in recruiting
