In case you haven’t noticed, Waze is super excited to be partnering with Rock The Bells! With the first show just days away, we thought we’d share who we’re most looking forward to seeing.
Besides being Waze’s awesome QA Engineer, Mikhel Davé is also Waze HQ’s resident hip-hop head. Mikhel has been to every Rock The Bells Festival since its inception in 2004.
The Bay Area native had a life changing moment when he found a Bone Thugs N Harmony cassette tape on the ground in third grade.
“That’s when I fell in love with hip-hop. I cannot wait to see them.”
In terms of current names he’d like to see he says “…I’m pretty much obsessed with the TDE Camp, so I’m really stoked to see Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-soul and Jay Rock.”
Fellow Waze staffer Eric Ruiz, the self-proclaimed “VP of Awesomeness” went to his first Rock The Bells show in 2007.
“I got to meet Talib Kweli (in 2007). I haven’t washed my right hand since.” We hope he is joking.
Despite growing up in sunny California, Eric has always had an affinity for East Coast hip hop.
“From ‘Illmatic’ to ‘Life Is Good’ I have always been a huge Nas fan. I cannot wait to see him.”
Rock The Bells kicks off this weekend in San Bernardino! Afterwards the festival will make its way to Northern California for a stop in Mountain View on August 25th. The festival makes its third stop in Holmdel, New Jersey over the Labor Day Weekend.
