Data is synced real-time (when you have network connection), or synced when you connect to a network. A reinstall should not lose you any data.

Client crashing after adding house numbers - iPhone

Last couple of days I've gone on house number binges adding large volumes at a time. The problem is after doing so the client will not launch no matter what I do. I literally have to delete an reinstall it in order to get back in.

Thought I would throw it out there in case I'm not the only one.

Je viens d'apprendre il y a 2 heures l'existence de ce logiciel et je trouve ça ENORME !!!
Seulement, n'ayant pas encore pu tester, je suis remplis de questions... et je ne trouve pas mes réponses sur le forum alors si quelqu'un peut prendre le temps de répondre à mes questions ce serait vraiment sympa...
1/Le logiciel fonctionne-t-il seulement à l'aide la puce GPS du téléphone (donc on peut s'en servir allègrement à l'étranger sans surcoût) ou il utilise le forfait du téléphone...?
2/Existe t'il un "mode d'emploi" parce que je ne saisis pas bien certaines choses expliquées par certains blogueurs... Par exemple : si notre adresse de destination n'existe pas (mais que l'on sait s'y rendre quand même), comment enregistrer le trajet et mémoriser l'adresse pour la partager...?

Bref avec de la pratique ça ira je pense parce que là j'ai du mal...

Ok, werde ich so machen.
Dann wäre es aber schön, wenn man im Editor auch mehrere unterschiedliche Straße markieren kann und dann alle auf einmal in einen bestimmten (Vor-)Ort packen kann. Oder man "spannt ein Gebiet", ähnlich einer quadratischen Markierung, und kann alles innerhalb der Markierung einen Ort zuweisen. Könnte die Arbeit extrem erleichtern...

Cant create Roundabouts

My experience has been that creating junctions on the end of all roads joining the roundabout seems to work OK. If even one road leading into the roundabout doesn't have a junction on the end of it, the create roundabout process seems to fail.

I tried it on your examples but I can't edit the roads - "No Premission" apparently

I've done this with three or four roundabouts when the process doesn't work first time.

In this area, I've tried searching for Beaufort Rd, Beaufort Cr, Sedlescombe (as a partial search on Sedlescombe Road North/South) and a lot of roads in the surrounding area.

I can see them labelled and marked on Live Map, Update Map and also on my Android phone but the searches don't show results.

The town on these roads is added as St Leonards on Sea as a sub district of Hastings, and even the district does not return a result.

This area has only started to be mapped in the last 5 days or so, so maybe there's an update delay going on? I'd like to be able to start playing with navigation while I go about recording new roads

Not sure if I follow you... to ad a city enter the city name in the city field when adding a street!
If it's the first time the city is entered you will get a box telling you to confirm the city name and then it's done!

Yea, I don't even see the tron on the map. You might need to email Waze (alpha@waze.com) and get them to add it as a city. While you're at it you could apply to be an area manager, there's not many roads mapped south of the Bombays

Est-ce que tu n'es pas au niveau du zoom max ? et sinon tu habites dans quelle région ? avec la nouvelle carte, normalement toutes les routes sont là, mais je peux toujours aller vérifier.

Just select language, enter the text in the bottom that you want it to read, easy as that!

so I started thinking, the voices sound pretty ok, and since I can download them if I had an account I surely never could use them for waze... could I... well, the FAQ Claims that:

The sound files that you download are free of rights. You can use them for all personal or commercial projects. There is only one limitation: if you plan to create an advertisement that will be broadcast on radio or television you must contact us first.

I'm not that good at legal texts and hidden agendas... but that does look good... and with 5€ for 715 characters it's really good! I tried with the Swedish ones and that was around 250 characters so there should be enough...

I'm going to try the swedish ones and see how they work in the client, if it looks good and the waze team doesn't object I guess it's free for anyone to make!

I'd say that the best option would be to post a permalink to the area in question, and have other area managers double check the work. They may have encountered a similar problem and created a work around for it.

Denver Accuracy

So I have noticed some major routing issues in Denver. 1) Routes like to exit the highway then get back on at the same exit. Sometimes this happens multiple times or even every exit along my route. 2) Also is there a way to correct directions that are entirely wrong? I was on a ramp where it told me to go right two days in a row and the entrance is to the left. 3) When two exits are very close to each other its hard to tell which one it wants you to take. Is there an exit here "south" or exit here "east" feature? 4) I would prefer "EXIT" on the highway directions rather than "veer" 5) Are they simply not enough Wazers in Denver to provide traffic data where the road turns colors? I have only had it show up once. 5) When I add a POI online how long before I can use it on my phone? 6) Is there a way to add a point on the map (drop pin) and say drive to here?

PS. I love Waze and simply want it to work better. Right now, it is not very reliable for routing or traffic information other than reports. Reports alone are worth running the app.

En plus depuis qu'il y a le nouveau tramage, j'ai l'impression que ça fonctionne moins bien. Parfois je suis sur autoroute dans les bouchons, et waze ne le signale pas, alors que d'autres fois quand je roule lentement dans une petite rue il croit qu'il y a un bouchon.

I see that this thread has been inactive for a while, but I stumbled upon it when looking for information about how I should label the motorways and dual carriageways I have created.

I agree that it is somewhat arrogant for a non-UK resident to dictate how we should be naming UK roads, and that the convention may well be different in the US to how it is over here - and just because it is different does not make it ridiculous.

Maybe to solve this discussion, we should look at how the road signs in the UK display this information. This is on a sign on the M5 just south of Bristol.

how to edit a street in the tunnel?

What about driving directions when we are in a tunnel?

Let me explain it better: we're driving in a tunnel in a freeway and there is an exit inside the tunnel. How is waze gonna handle this situation? It won't give me any direction if the tunnel is longer than 800 meters and I will most likely miss the right exit.

My idea is that waze could calculate the speed we are driving and if the gps signal is lost it could "guess" the right time to suggest to exit.

Mi infilo in questo topic segnalando un problema proprio dei report

Da un paio di giorni lungo la statale per Lanzo (Torino) ci sono dei lavori in corso.

Ieri da primo wazer incappo in 20 minuti di coda, segnalo prontamente l'Hazards e mi accorgo che il segmento in cui sono diventa prima arancione, poi rosso, segnalando anchesso la coda.

Bene, oggi ero distratto da un lato, dall'altro mi fidavo di Waze che mi faceva percorrere l'identico tragitto del giorno prima ecco che arrivo di nuovo in coda. Contrartiamente a ieri però un utente era passato da lì ed aveva anche lui segnalato la coda.

Il segmento in questione non è colorato e waze non si cura del segnale lasciato.

Non vi pare che sia un grave errore ?? Un bug forse ??
Con una priorità diversa waze poteva farmi fare una stradina parallela e farmi risparmiare una decina di minuti, proprio come ho deviato io.

Potreste aiutarmi ed eventualmente segnalare l'errore in fase di calcolo di rotta ??

There are several threads on the "website keep me logged in"... it appears to not work.

I'm not to concerned with that, as I rather have them working on the core product.

As far as forum. The passwords appear to be synced, but the waze website can't set the phpBB cookies. Visit the User Control Panel page at the following URL

When you login, click the keep me logged in. This one does work

Automatic day/night switch

Also with HTC Hero when i first open Waze its on day mode and refuses to autoswitch to night mode. I have opened the app while in my dark car and it was in day mode then shined the light on the screen for a moment then shut the light off to see if it would switch to night mode. Nope.

Any ideas? In the meantime i have switched to permanent night mode.

I've found that if I create a junction on the end of every road that enters a roundabout, they work just fine. If there's no junction on the end of even one road leading into that roundabout, then Cartouche will throw the "Internal Server Error".

En cuanto al tema de los dobles sentidos, yo empecé haciendo vias de dos sentidos, pero a día de hoy estoy rehaciendo vias dobles una de cada sentido y las nuevas las voy haciendo así, siempre dependiendo de la anchura de la via claro.

Lo so, tendenzialmente mi fido piu' dei GPS che degli aerials; ma se ho richieste di aggiornamento, pochi tracciati GPS e abbastanza discordanti fra di loro... posso solo affidarmi agli aerials e ad altre mappe; ma almeno qualche riferimento devo averlo.

For me, sometimes yes and sometimes no. I don't usually get night mode when I shouldn't, but sometimes don't get night mode when I should.

In regards to the contrast, I've switched from the default color scheme to "the blues" and the contrast seems to be good for night mode.

On the Help/About page I find only:

- Waze support in your area
- Send logs
- About

If I select "send logs" it will automatically start sending a log, there is nothing I can change about that.
Can you please describe exactly how to send that e-mail?

ho dato un'occhiata alla traduzione che fa Google, non è niente di fondamentale.
in sostanza dicono che appunto Waze ora ha le mappe stradali tedesche, che il client può proporre percorsi alternativi, le classifiche… insomma, un riassunto di cose che bene o male sapevamo già.

I have noticed too that even when the client is stopped for a short time it can cause false reporting say if it is stopped and restarted within a couple of minutes

FWIW, I had a similar experience, but I found I didn't need to battery slap -- just powering down and back up again caused it to be able to get a lock.

I believe that if a road always has traffic then Waze will not shade it as traffic. For example, if a road always averages 25 mph then you doing 25 mph through the road will not trigger the traffic alert. You would have to do 5 mph or something similar to trigger the alert. That is because that the original route takes into account the average 25 mph speed and would route you differently if a faster route was found.

Hi,

As for now the only way to get more permissions for editing is to become an area manager as mentioned.
You can start with a small area around your neighborhood and continue from there...
Its not rare to see more then one area manager for an area... it only gets the problem fixed faster and batter

- pause button for stopping at gas stations or drive thru restaurants since doing these functions while WAZE is running will shade a road red indicating to other Wazers that the traffic is thick and congested (when it really isn't). The shading thing hasn't been working well in my area since a couple Waze versions ago on the iphone, so I think the stats for the area are a bit jacked-up, perhaps because I am an aggressive driver and am always swinging into gas stations and whatnot with WAZE continuing to run.

no, I didn't do that. I just entered departure and destination for a small route and the map shows the output from waze. The coordinates might explain the strange map but why does the route lead to this strange kind of output!?

And even coordinates 0.0,0.0 don't lead to center of earth because latitude and longitude are defined on earth not below. Just look at google maps with these coordinates http://maps.google.de/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=de&geocode=&q=0.0+0.0&sll=0,0&sspn=29.124635,34.848633&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=6, nowhere near center of earth ...

You are supposed to be able to see the reported speedacams in Cartouche and there set the speedlimit for them. After that when you save them they will show up in the client!

But... there's always one, isn't it At the moment the cameras is invisible in cartouche so you can't make the step and save them. The support team is aware of the problem but Itamar announced today that it's not planned to be fixed in the 1.4 release either so until further notice we just have to drive slower where we know the cams might be hiding

I have to agree with this problem. Not only do I loose the blue line, but the turn direction and eta information at the bottom of the screen. When that happens, there is also no way to cancel out of of navigation. I have found that exiting Waze and restarting seems to bring back the routing information.

, quizás no me he explicado bien, cuando usas Waze, se graba un track con el recorrido, existe la opción de convertir ese track en una vía, es como pavimentar, pero en diferido.

El problema es que llevo usando PDAs (con teléfono) prácticamente desde que se inventaron (es un vicio que tengo ) ... y siempre han sido con Winmo (que hasta hace unos años, era lo más avanzado para este tipo de productos).

Ahora, gracias a Zapatero, soy un parado más y muy, muy, muy pobre... por lo que hace ya más de un año que Android está en el mercado, y yo, que soy Linusero hasta la médula y encima Pro-Google ... todavía no me he podido dar mi caprichito "Androide" ... y estoy que rabio de la ira

Así que presumo que estaré unos añitos más con mi Diamond ... y teniendo versiones DESACTUALIZADAS de Waze para su Winmo ...

I all,
I'm using the Beta 1.5.2.5 and it seems to be working fine except that I notice a very slow update of the maps; for example I've made some changes 3 or 4 days ago and today I've found on my client the old roads.

It would be good to have a "force map download" in order to clean the previously cached maps and redownload that from Cartuche.

I just used the TIGER map browser to look at the location I just posted above. It seems correct. Why would TIGER be correct but Waze is ridiculously wrong? Try this link and browse to the location you posted in the first post.

Any news on this? The existing cams are still there (see viewtopic.php?f=4&t=27&start=30#p16277), but are still not visible. I expect that new cams are added to Cartouche, but cannot be confirmed because they are not visible.

Ze moeten inderdaad in Cartouche bevestigd worden. Het probleem is alleen dat ze momenteel niet zichtbaar zijn in Cartouche (ze zijn er wel, maar geen ikoon oid waaraan ze te herkennen zijn). Dit is bekend bij de developers, maar het duurt al een tijdje voor er een fix is. Zal de betreffende thread zo eens opzoeken en bumpen.

In case no-one has noticed there's a post in the announcements forum giving a very rough schedule for the European map updates ... looks like the UK is getting done in May!

As for mapping of the Midlands? I'm on a mission to map my weekly 110 miles commute (each way) from Lincoln to Telford covering A46/A52/A453/A1/A42/M42/A5.

Today I reached where the M6 Toll meets the A5, so I can get there without problems all the way from Lincoln. I've fully mapped evry major junction (that needed doing) en route.

Here's some examples of the junctions I've done:
A46/A1 Interchange
M1/A50/A453 Interchange
M1/A42 Interchange
M42/A5 Interchange

Along the way I've learnt a lot about the roads and Cartouche. I think a lot of the stuff I did just a few weeks ago could be done way better now, but it works so it can wait till the base-maps go online (hopefully may!).

I've now worked a method out for removing all the stray and intersecting roads that litter a major junction (like this) and make the impossible to navigate WITHOUT being an area manager ... I'll be tacking the one shown above over the next few days
