Wow! This chain really cracked me up. I thought I was terribly OCD when I got started. That kind of attention to those parking lots, etc. boarders on fondling. The only thing left is to number the parking spots.
This brings up something that I was wondering. I want to contact someone editing in my area to find out if he is putting separating lines on roads that are already split in two. I thought that I saw something somewhere about how to contact other AMs, but I can't find it, now.
Is it possible that the system may somehow be automatically adding separating lines to those roads?
ThankU, Have Fun

The separating line is only a visual in the map editor. It doesn't show in the Waze Application and doesn't serve any function in regards to routing. In addition, from what we heard at the Palo Alto Wazer Meet Up, Waze is not planning to add it into the new map editor.

So basically what I am saying is that you don't have to worry about adding the separating line when editing in the old editor. It's adds no value in regards to the product.

In regards to contacting other Wazers - you can do so by sending them a PM (Private Message) in the forums.

Basemapped split roads automatically have the separating line. That's totally not the way separating line was intended to be used, but that's the way the roads imported for some reason.

You only see the line on Primary Roads, although it may be on any road type. Other road types will only show a checked checkbox in old Cartouche.

They're supposed to clear that attribute (switch it to False) before they remove the option to edit it. I hope so because the line obscures the arrows indicating the flow of traffic.

I've been spending a lot of time selecting several segments of long stretches of already divided roads to clear the checked box for the separating line, which separates the separate lanes. It's a bit agrivating. I just single a short section of road that didn't need to be doubled. I was about to use the separating line for it. So, you're saying it won't matter because it will be cleared anyway? Is there an approximate time for them to all be cleared.
Also, I saw that a few have mentioned their area taking a long time to update and others reporting the updates processing in just a few days. My corrections have been taking about 3 to 4 weeks to process since I began in December 2011. What would be the reasoning?

You will get points for those edits, I believe, but I'd be concentrating on more value-add work. Since the separating line functionality doesn't exist, Waze said they will remove this from the system in the background and we'll never know any different going forward. They did not give a timeframe.

The map tile processing system isn't scaling well with increased editor usage so that's one of the main reasons the updates are taking so long right now. Although the app/livemap is only 8 days old as of today, so that's pretty decent. They are trying to optimize the current update process to get to around 7 days while they are also re-writing the processing code to try to get us to where they should be, and that's within 24 hrs. We've seen it update tiles in under 24hrs before and it will be there again some day. But it will be a few months before we get to that nirvana.

I just noticed that the time stamp for these posts is way incorrect. What time zone should it represent?

They are working on the website issues today regarding the SSL cert and problems with the wiki. It looks like the timestamp I see is US mountain daylight saving time, GMT-6.

I'm on the East Coast, 2 hours ahead of MT. The time stamp is 7 hours ahead of me.
