Poof!

Postby xollob » Mon Feb 06, 2012 8:08 pm

Just got a closure email for an issue I posted.

"Poof! The map problem you reported on Feb 3 has been solved..."

Really? You guys aren't very bright using that as an introduction !

Update Requests, no emails being sent in new Waze Map Editor

Postby FrisbeeDog » Tue Feb 07, 2012 12:52 am

I hope that's not the real email that goes back after a report is solved. Either way, there needs to be a disclaimer that it might take a week or two for the change to show up.

If something is solved the user is going to expect the problem to not be there the next time they Waze. Providing them with a statement that while solved, it isn't an immediate process to show up in navigation at least let's them now not to expect it to.

Nope, that is the real deal. I opened an UR yesterday and this is what I recieved when I closed it:

Subject: Poof! The map problem you reported on Feb 5 has been solved...
Body: Hi WeeeZer14,
On Feb 5 you reported a map issue while using Waze. (To jog your memory, you reported Wrong Driving Directions )
So, good news: Map editor, WeeeZer14, has solved this problem! You and WeeeZer14 have potentially saved thousands of commuters in your area hundreds of minutes, and for that, we're grateful! They are, too - they just don't know it...

Many thanks for your continued collaboration and support!

I agree that the email makes it sound like it is an instantaneous resolution when we all know that is not the case.

As far as the terminology used in the subject possibly being offensive, I for one never knew of that use. And the Waze team is mostly English as a second language, so no doubt they are unaware.

Will most people think of that use or the (I assume) more common use in the onomatopoeia way of being a sound effect? Of course I think at this point every word has multiple meanings including negative ones to someone somewhere.

A note to support would be the way to bring this to the attention of Waze decision makers.

In the old cartouche I implemented a Greasemonkey script which would allow me to automatically reply to update requests with a set of fixed texts such as :
"This problem has been resolved. Should you have any further questions, feel free to contact me via e-mail : <my@email.com>"
or
"You reported a problem, but did not provide a description. The problem is quite unclear. Please resubmit the problem with a description or contact me via e-mail : <my@email.com>"

Seems that kind of functionality is now missing, which really is a shame...

Yes it is. We are in an interim state. Future functionality is supposed to involved 2-way communication within the editor and an inbox in the app.
