Are we getting points for marking update requests as Solved or Not a Problem?

I looked at this example. Directions were exactly as the Wazer drove. So it does not appear to be wrong driving directions.

Yes, I would mark it - not a problem.

Ditto, though they are likely complaining about a previous turn. Can't figure it out quickly = Not a Problem for now.

I've tried this several times, but that doesn't work for all id's.

Changes and sync to Update Requests on Papyrus

Postby banished » Thu Jan 26, 2012 5:17 pm

I might be the outlier, but I am uncertain there's a need for the UR system to provide feedback to the end user. There should be, however, a method for the AM to make a note on the report (like the 'field trip' or 'missing data' options in Cartouche_old) for the cases where there's not yet enough data for the AM to confidently believe the change s/he is contemplating will actually solve the reported problem.

For example, there's one area where I have made significant edits and cleared out the existing URs. If there's another UR now, I am reluctant to act upon only one (it's a heavily trafficked road) unless there begins to be multiple similar URs after the tiles have updated. Being able to put a note on a UR for myself (or other AMs that might be tempted to fix something that might not really be broke) would be helpful.

Obviously, this is essential in a country such as mine, because do we hard work to be a lot users.

I am uncertain it is realistic for users to expect a personal reply to their reports. If I make a report and the next time I drive the same route the problem is gone, that is all the feedback I need. Perhaps their are cultural differences in your country of which I am unaware, but I generally think people are people.

It's going to make it much more difficult to try and get further info on the update requests that are for problems that aren't immediately obvious :(

You can set the forum to notify you by email of any new PMs. My understanding is that is set by default. So unless the user has explictly turned off this feature, I would think that they should be notified using the same email account that cartouche would have used.

My experience is the majority of update requests that I review do not result in a map edit.

Many update request are 1) related to non-map issues (e.g., can't get route, app crashes, etc.), 2) related to issues that cannot be corrected on the map (e.g. time based restrictions, toll road avoidance, etc.) or 3) are routing problems that are caused by issues in the map many miles from where the request is submitted (e.g. request submitted from living room, map problem many miles away causing route to change, etc.).

I see many more requests that are general errors or the problem is not otherwise identifiable where I never get any response from the submitter (or the submitter is a usa_ user and I just close the request).

That leaves a relatively few requests where I can correct the problem by editing the map.

Try pasting that into the 'u' (user) field of the PM link. (It looks like a valid user, joined 11/03/2011, 0 posts to the forum.)

It is indeed their user number and yes the forum defaults to receiving an email when you get a PM!

Changes and sync to Update Requests on Papyrus

Postby FrisbeeDog » Thu Jan 26, 2012 4:21 pm

Both great questions above.

Also, any ETA on have the update requests in list form in Papyrus? Scrolling around isn't fun and it is easy to lose track of things via the RSS feed.
