Request: Chat Dialogue

Postby james_8970 » Tue Feb 28, 2012 10:51 pm

Hello,
I was wondering if the developers could add a chat box on the side of the map editor. I've had a number of instances where I could not save my 100+ edits because another editor had modified something since I had adjusted it. While I know this could be prevented if I did more frequent saves I believe that if editors in a region could communicate with one another, collaboration would improve the map edits. Furthermore, it would allow new people to get real time advice and help to prevent any first timer errors.

Sorry about posting in the wrong section and that's great to hear! An additional thing would be for users to be able to create a list of known issues that they aren't able to complete in the time they have so that someone could pick up where they left off or start the project that couldn't be started by the individual who saw it. Is there a list somewhere showing what is planned for future updates?

Planned for updates to the editing system or planned updates for the street map, like new streets being added, changes to alignment of highways, etc.?

As far as updates to the street maps, I'm currently getting a Tennessee Wiki page together, learning as I go. I feel that a state Wiki page, if used, could be a great place to report this type of data. (I think I finally settled on a format (since I'm getting no feedback from the non-existent peanut gallery . . . ), but before I even add data to it, it's a pretty big amount. . .) Anyway, I would suggest starting a wiki page (or participating in your state's page). Like I said, if used, it ought to be a very powerful tool.

Never even considered this. Our city has a facebook page, but it doesn't appear very active. I'll give it a try and if all else fails I'll start a wiki.

If that's the type of info you're going for, then wiki is where many of us are keeping tabs on things. There's a page for my area, the Portland-Vacouver metro area, and I also created an Oregon state-wide "to-do" page which has a section withplanned projects.

All 50 US states have at least a temporary page, linked here; the question is whether or not any of the editors in a specific state have chosen to take on the added responsibility of setting up their state's page so that it can be useful. (New York is one of the few states that can answer "yes" to that question ;) -- see the link in my sig below.)

Since we're on the topic, can I get a temporary non-Tennessee peanut gallery?

I would like if any of you guys would be willing to give any suggestions, comments, concerns, etc. regarding Tennessee's new Wiki page: http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/To_Do_-_Tennessee - nothing fancy, just a quick look is all I'm asking.

The active Tennessee editors seem to have taken a vacation from the forum and/or Waze, and the inactive ones are hard to reach, so. . .
