Edit: Setting turn restriction counts as one edit per node.

For points? I thought turns were a segment parameter.

In the editor, pressing 'w' shows as a single edit no matter how many turn restrictions are changed. However, if I select each segment and set all the turn restrictions individually it can be as many as 12 edits in the WME window. The discrepency bothers me.

It is just how the editor works. The number does not indicate how many edits you make, just how many functions you did. Example, if you select an entire street and there are 14 segments highlighted and you edit the name. It should count as 14 edits. However it will only show as one function because you did those edits all at once, vs selecting a segment edit then select the next segment edit.

Turn restrictions are connected to the junction, not the segments. If you change a junction, you get an editing point. If you change a segment, you get one editing point.

You can only get one editing point per segment or junction, no matter how many changes you make to it.

What fvwazing mentioned earlier is changes you can undo. These get counted up in the upper right corner of the screen. This has nothing to do with how many edits or points you will get.

The only other thing that I can think of to mention is that I've been told that in the old editor (cartouche), if you edit multiple segments, you only get one point when you save. But nobody should really be using the old editor anymore anyway.

Ah! Well there is my issue. That is the big change. I do most of my editing at work. Lots of down time expecially on weekends. (Maybe 1 - 2 calls a day) and all we have is IE and they disabled installing any plugins /extensions into IE so I can not even use the chrome extension. I guess I have to do the route of editing each individual segment instead of doing multiple edits at once. bah!

Have you tried using WME in IE?

Yup, it wants you to install the Chrome frame extension.

You can try installing portable versions of Chrome or Firefox on a memory stick (e.g. PortableApps.com) - no issues with disabled plugins this way.

Off course, just if you are allowed to run any applications, which are not installed locally on the computer.

Running executables is blocked at work for me too... Fortunately, there is a tool that needs certain permissions in the Windows folder. Once we found that out, we are dumping all kinds of portable versions in that folder, and run them without problems ;-)

Another tactic: run executables from a zipped archive.

I already tried the portable apps route and it didn't work. Also it is a government computer I am using and they have already wiped my drive for a tracking cookie they couldn't remove. I have to be really careful where I go at work, so instead of browsing the fail type blogs I edit roads and fix old user requests in IE and watch movies. At home I edit in chrome and fix new user requests / problems (when I have time). My editable areas have no old URs. You can actually go to a general overview in my areas and see my actual editable areas.
