Area manager causing problems

Postby arl16 » Mon Jun 11, 2012 11:00 am

Is there any way that you can monitor or stop an individual area manager? I see an individual in my state that seems to be going through and making changes to the map just for the sake of making changes and getting points, and actually causing errors to pop up for correction.

I have had to go back to a particular part of town where I had already fixed the direction and turning allowances for an entire neighborhood. I was surprised to find errors consistently popping up. When I have found errors, the streets are indicating that he had just edited it. When I click around all of the streets, in the area, they all say "last edited by" this wazer. I know there is no reason that these needed to be edited. What can I/we do to stop him from ruining work already completed?

Thank you.

Can you post a permalink that shows an example?

Have you tried to contact them?

Have you tried contacting the AM (by personal message here on the forum)? I have had good luck contacting editors in Maryland that have been overly aggressive in their editing. I'm sorry to here that you are having problems. I haven't yet noticed anyone causing problems in clean areas in my area. We do need to nip this kind of thing in the bud. If I can help in any way, please let me know.

Here is an example: https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=6&lat ... TTTFTTTTFT

Yerin has changed N Kenwood St to a 2-way street, when it is North only. I had fixed all of this area previously.

Yerin is not an Area Manager. His access level is (0) meaning he's just able to edit where he's driven.

You can still try to send him a PM just by typing his name into the PM form.

If you don't get a reply within a day or two, send an e-mail to support.

I thought I felt my ears burning.

No. I'm not an area manager. And I apologize PROFUSELY for screwing this bit up. I was going through and adjusting geometry of the roads a bit and may have gotten overzealous about the directionality of the streets. In the future, I won't touch the directions unless I know for a fact which way they run.

And you can feel free to PM me anytime. Sorry again for stepping on toes. It wasn't done maliciously or with the desire to just accumulate points in mind.

This is why I wish we could put "Edit Radius" on the map that would be a little note to other editors that an edit is currently being done, that we could remove (or it would decay after 12 hours), so other editors not only know that another editor is doing something there, but that edits are in progress, and why things are changing.

It also would be nice to place a "commit change info" onto a commit so people are aware of what change happened so people could call up the change and rate it, and possibly revert the entire change (would help in cases of people being malicious).

An osm type rollback and changeset feature would be great. Seeing recent edits would be perfect!

You really shouldn't edit a segment at all if you are not going to correct everything:

* Geometry
* Country, State, City, Name
* Directionality
* Turn restrictions at each junction

If you edit a segment you are 'confirming' it. So for example if you edit the road geometry but don't correct the directionality the directionality may get 'stuck' as it is when you save it, contribute to incorrect navigation instructions, and not update automatically as Wazers drive over the segment.
