Then this more needs to be more clearly iterated in the wiki as a best practice item after there is some amount of consensus among editors.

Area manager causing problems

Yes, it needs to be clarified.

Don't take this wrong, the Waze community wants you to contribute and to edit the map. Just be aware there are a lot of 'little details' and not everything is always as it seems.

There are a lot of "little details" but if you want people to be willing to contribute, than there is some level of acceptance of errors that are going to be made in the process of learning. Please, have these "little details" placed in a wiki so everyone knows how to handle the editing process. Otherwise if that information remains in the forums, it's lost to A LOT of others.

*I* myself took the time to go through the wiki and read about the best practices for various areas. If i'm not sure how to handle it, I either ask in a forum or just leave it be for someone who knows better to do so. I seriously doubt that most of the people who contribute edits have done the same.

Everyone with a Waze account (20 million people) can contribute to or enhance the Wiki. We need more Wazers taking an active roll to enhance the overall Waze experience.

The Wiki needs a complete overhaul. Every time I look at it, I find a new page in there that has duplicated info that can be found in the BMEP page or elsewhere. The problem is that the BMEP page is frequently updated, but these other pages are years out of date, and if a n00b finds the other pages, that's where all the trouble starts.

There's too much info spread out over too many pages and the structure of the linked pages is very hard to follow.

We also need a more clearly defined USA (maybe including Canada) section since our infrastructure and driving customs and rules are so different from other parts of the world. For that matter, every country may need a separate page if things differ enough between the different countries.

Agreed. But who's responsibility is this? Waze Mobile? The community?

If the community, a team needs to be formed with a leader that can get it done. Otherwise we will be complaining about this forever.

kentsmith9 may be willing to lead this. He has another thread related to re-working the Wiki.

Maybe we should remove all of the old Cartouche documentation from the Wiki? This is also part of the complication. Waze says they are retiring it and it stays around for months / years afterwards.

I applaud your effort. This is a huge task. Taking it on at one week in, you're a bold one.

I know Dror used to do some editing sometimes, but I don't think he's going to have time to do that
anymore. He made it pretty clear that it is up to the Megawazers to write the Wiki and decide what changes are to be made.

Maybe we could enlist the IGNs to overhaul it.
