I've just noticed this too - very frustrating. Waze seems so unreliable these days. It wouldn't be so bad if they would actually acknowledge these problems on the status page and post updates on the situation.

very strange -- there was an area I drove last Wednesday that I could edit yesterday, but today it is grayed out on the map and I'm not allowed to edit it.

I believe that the most current info is that a problem has been identified regarding missing editable areas based on driving from the beginning of November. Waze has started a process that uploads those areas and you should see them appearing gradually. This process should be done in ± 10 days.

Thanks. The area that I was obviously missing was from 31st October, so that is roughly consistent. Still isn't re-editable yet for me, but I'm happy to wait another couple of weeks - it's still within the 3 month window...

Yeah... I'm guessing we're not getting back the lost editable areas.

I got an email from support on the 3rd:
We found the problem with missing editable areas based on driving from the beginning of November.
We started a process that uploads those areas and you should see them appearing gradually.
The process should be done in ± 10 days.
Best regards,
Yonatan
So until the 13th we wont know if the areas are back or not. Just have to play the waiting game now.

They've been sending out the exact same e-mail for weeks as a default canned response on this topic irrespective of the specific question you ask them. Not only do they have no concept of how to use basic mathematical notation correctly (how can you specify a measurement error without a measurement?) they also clearly have no idea when or probably how this problem will be fixed.
