Franklin, WI: "The highlighted road is too far..."

I cannot for the life of me figure out why I can't add the city of Franklin to any roads in Franklin, WI. I keep getting the dreaded error,
"The highlighted road is too far from the city it was added to."

Any tips? None of the other posts I could find are helpful in this case.

Many segments are already set to "Franklin". But I can't add that city name to any roads in the area, even though the area is swamped with roads with city "Franklin" already.

Enable the cities layer, and check out the polygons. You'll notice that Franklin is conspicuously absent there. My guess would be that one of the eight other 'Franklins' in Wisconsin stole 'The Franklin allowed in Wisconsin':

If you check these one at a time, you'll likely find that 'one or many of them' is the one that has it. If you remove all the roads assigned to the cities in that location, Franklin should reassign properly to the one in Milwaukee County at the next city tiles update (which occurs about once a week, I think.)

(EDIT: Yep, I found it. It's the one in Sauk County.

One thing I've noticed about say, Wisconsin, is that unlike some other states, its basemap has/had townships assigned as well as cities and towns. The fact that there are multiple 'Franklins' is of course why we see this happen. )

You are my hero! How on earth did you find that other "Franklin"? I could have brute-force scrolled around, but did you use a better method to find that?

Heya! Well, basically like this.

1. Checked Wikipedia for 'Franklin, Wisconsin'. (One good thing about WP? It pretty much knows about every census related area in use, because its initial populate of city pages was FROM Census info in 2000. So, I ended up at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin,_Wisconsin
2. Checked each of the 7 'Franklins' that are NOT the one in Milwaukee County, because we already know that one's not coming up as the city.
3. Started at the top of the list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin,_ ... _Wisconsin : Found coordinates 44°12′46″N 91°5′4″W on the page. Clicked that.
4. Converted the decimal coordinates of that city on the Geohack page. 44.212778, -91.084444
5. Took 'a permalink', and put this coordinate set into the permalink.

6. Repeat until found. Enjoy!
