Road Closed at Certain Times/Days

I live on a military base, as a result, there are certain roads that have time access restrictions. Often Waze will direct me to drive on these roads during those times, I know to go around them, but is there a way in the editor to set these times and days as saying the road is closed?

For example, the road is open M-F 0500-1900 (7:00pm) and closed Sat and Sun.

No waze does not yet provide for time based restrictions. But this capability is said to be coming.

Consider the "majority rules" guideline from the linked section CBenson posted.

Also consider the commute times for the area. Since you're talking about a military base I can't comment on when "rush hour(s)" is.

I can give you an example from my area. There is a street where left turns are prohibited only during rush hours (couple hours in the morning, and couple hours at night), the rest of the time it's perfectly legal to make those left turns. So they are set in Waze as allowed, and it's up to the driver to obey local signs and laws (waze will re-calculate your route when you skip that turn).

So if on your base people are normally driving during the times that the roads are open (which is what I suspect), then I would left them as allowed / open and it's up to the drivers to obey the local signage.

"Majority" should be measured the amount ("volume") of traffic, not strictly by clock time. Rush hour is precisely when Waze should not be directing drivers to make turns that are prohibited. Please review this discussion for the reasons behind the relevant section of the Best Practices document.

In the interests of full disclosure, you updated that page on Dec 18th. What I said used to be correct (prior to that the Best Practices document said "allow" the turn).

Now that best practices have changed I will make the relevant changes to my area.

It's a bit of a sore point for me, actually. The original section included wording borrowed from one of my posts on the subject in an earlier thread, saying that we should "err on the side of caution" and restrict a turn, rather than give drivers illegal directions, especially during periods of heavy traffic.

Then the wording was reversed without discussion, and it remained like that for a couple months, until the thread was re-opened to object to the change. The discussion then picked up in the thread that I cited a few posts ago, where we reached a consensus to change it back to its original wording--which I did.

My only point being that we all (meaning editors), don't have the time to check every page of the wiki on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis, there's just too much there, especially if you're looking for a one word change.

I wonder if it's possible, given the current wiki, to produce an automated change log? This would help weed out any "unauthorized" edits as well.
