Paving vs Map Editing

Postby chris-s-johnson » Wed May 23, 2012 7:34 pm

So trying to understand how the Paving function is tied to Map Editing if it is at all. Here is my experience. I was using Waze to get me to work for a month or more, but the parking lot wasn't known to Waze, so when I started out it would have me always start in a weird spot on a nearby street. So I thought I'd use the Paving function to try and capture the parking lot. I got part of the parking lot, but then I started digging around and found the on-line editing tool and used it to enter the whole parking lot. And I saw the paving on the editing tool when I was adding it on-line. A few weeks later I started seeing my edits appear on the app (they got published), but my red paving marks are still over laid on the new map edits. I was kind of expecting this to go away after I edited it away on line. Is there another way to do this? Do I need to do it from my iPhone?

Regards,

Just delete the red paving segments. Paving is kind of a (very) rough way to get an idea of where a road is laid. Because of GPS inaccuracy, the paves are never usually that straight. If you can go by Bing aerial, you can be guided by that.

Paving marks hang around on the client for a very long time. Nobody is sure how long...it could be a few update cycles, or it could be a couple of months. The only way to get rid of them instantly is to reinstall the client on your device.
