Very nice initiative and good job!

One thing, though : the maximum number of wazers in your graphs doesn't match what I get daily through the app. We usually reach 5500± by 18.00. Do you know what causes such a difference in figures? Image

Unless he's doing something different now, the last I knew he was using the Live Map interface and keeping track of usernames while scanning the area, and not the "Near you now" interface that the app uses.

We take only the really active users from the Livemap and only in the city area.

That seems to be problematic. We know that Livemap is not a priority for Waze and that the number of users are filtered. So that is why the number of Wazers looks to be very low all across Europe per Wazestats. Waze really needs to provide an API to the actual data for this to be accurate.

There is a way how to take all of them. Even for the whole country.

Number of local Wazers at rush hour

All - at once? I thought you had to parse the area in square km chunks, looping many times to collect every part of a large city. Is there no performanceissue when collecting, say, a whole country? Not at your side, not at Waze's side? And what about those hidden Wazers?

Exactly. I tried doing the same for the whole of the UK, but found that only a subset of users appeared on the Livemap, and Waze confirmed this to be true. In fact, there's one particular driver I know who uses Waze all day every day, but he never ever appeared on the Livemap.

I've since discarded my stats as a wasted effort. The only thing it's good for is to show general daily and weekly trends.

Well, Paris is a bit special. The actual city of Paris represents just 20% of the whole metropolitan area (2.5 million out of 12 million total). So we miss the suburbs which are covered by the in-app Waze radar.

As for 'active' wazers, do you mean moving wazers, excluding idle ones who appear on the map because they forgot to turn the app off?

According to my knowledge (maybe fotrik will clarify deeper):

differences between Near you now (NYN) and Wazestats are caused by:
- different area being monitored. in our country we got NYN just for capital city (Bratislava) - the area is defined as polygon and covers also surrounding villages. Wazestats monitors smaller rectangle.
- different understanding which Wazers are counting and which not. NYN most probably counts anyone logged in and connected and Wazestats counts only active wazers. active wazer is supposed to be the one who is driving (or standing in traffic), not the one who just open the app to pan around map without really driving.

Possibly there are also different time spans, during which the numbers of wazers were counted, under these two systems.
