Has anyone tested any of these with an iPad(3) running Waze AND at less then say 50% charge?
My experience is that every adapter I have tried fails. One would actually overheat and shutdown while using it.
Another question is, do any of them offer their stated higher output at a single USB port or are they independent and splitting the stated total output between ports? (See example of this issue at the URL that I added to jimstars' post above.)
And talk about overkill, I am currently using a Duracell 175W power inverter that has a 2.1A USB port. It was purchased to run my laptop, but the single USB port will keep Waze running on my iPad(3) AND charge it at the same time.
http://www.duracellpower.com/documents/ ... NVP175.pdfThe specs do not indicate the power availability in wattage for the USB port.
Interestingly, an older model of Duracell inverter failed to run my laptop, when the engine was not running. I attribute this to the slightly lower voltage output from the 12V jack, which must have prevented the regulation circuit from performing properly with the higher load of the laptop.
And to be clear, all those other 2.1A adapters (similar to the one mentioned here by others) all worked great on my iPad2.
So if anyone else is using a iPad(3) with Waze, please report your findings! (I think I have discussed this elsewhere too.)
