Okay, so I don't always pay the closest attention to what the app is doing, so take this with some grains of salt.
In Waze v2.x, the goodie munching sound of a "chomp" was followed by a synth-trumpet fanfare sound was used. In v3, those were placed with some bubbly-tinkling sound. (I don't know how to describe it.) Just yesterday, when I ran over map editing goodies, the synth-trumpet sound played without the chomp.
Am I imagining that this sound just recently changed or did it happen some time earlier and I'm late to the noticing party?

I'm haven't ever changed my sound settings and I feel like it's changed on its own. Maybe not...

Ah: betas. I had not considered that as a reason they change. Very well may be that.

Alan, the sound on both my devices has always been,a plop sound when the candy drops and the trumpet fanfare when the candy is picked. Last heard two hours back..

wtf? Gerben is right.. Both my devices have British Language Packs. When I started using Waze, I had a US language pack, and I used that phone only to complete the bonus opportunities. Now I recollect that those sounds were indeed different from the trumpet fanfare.

Tested and works like a charm. I just love the British Voice with the Ding a Ling Sound.

It seems there are different sounds in different language packs.
Somewhere between 2.x and 3.0 the 'dingaling' changed to the fanfare. Recently I got the dingaling back. It turned out it belongs to one of the English sound packs. As soon as I install the Dutch package for minimal guidance, it changes to the fanfare again.
