Problem with Penrose-Ellerslie Intersection (urgent)

Postby hisdad » Thu Oct 21, 2010 9:02 pm

Hi Team,
I tried to navigate from Station Rd to Glen Eden.
That was a bizarre experience and I'm trying to fix it.

This area here has baffled me

http://world.waze.com/cartouche/?zoom=7 ... FFFFFFTTTT

I've attempting to fix up this roundabout.
I suspect that initially the Gt South Rd Southbound was setup as two way and then split into 2x 1 way, after it was part of the roundabout. The roundabout had a funny bit that went backwards.
I've deleted anything else, but you can see that remaining short segment.

I can't do anything with it.
It won't select as a road.
The junctions on it can be selected, but they can't be deleted (Internal Server error).

I'd like to get rid of it before reinstating the roundabout to obliviate the chance of recreating the problem. Meanwhile the roads don't connect....

Any advise gratefully received.

Thanks for reporting this and having a go at fixing it. I saw the problem road. I couldn't select it ither, then after a while of editing, it changed from red to white and I could grab it.

I've fixed the whole area, I believe. Sorry - didn't mean to steal your thunder. It will be at least a couple of days before this comes through to the phone client app.

Thanks Wayne,
The thought of breaking something while trying to fix it was not happy-making.

Been there, done that. It wasn't your fault that the editor didn't work properly. You're a great man for coming forward with the problem. And it was great that you identified the problem and went in to fix it. Fortunately when things go wrong for me, the community comes forward really quickly to bail me out.

And since teh Livemap takes a couple of days to update, no one will even see there was a problem on their phone. They'll just see it routes better, thanks to you.

I work adjacent to this roundabout and it's always been bung.

Sorry I didn't report it myself. Basically it's such an abomination on a city planning level (3 major roads joining at a 3m wide round about) I figured it would be rather difficult to smooth in Waze.

I will check it out next week and post feed back here.

Routing is working but I stuffed up creation of the roundabout so voice prompts will not work at the roundabout. I've fixed it now, but it will take a few days to come through to the client.

It seems to me that the live update time has stretched out beyond a week.

They were doing well for a while, but the last one was a doozy. We'll see when the next one is. I'm tracking it here (trying to get Waze staff to maintain this): http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Waze_Service_Status

Heh. I came on just to let you know that i'm still being routed up to Greenlane but I guess it's a waiting game.

I was just having a look at it on Cartouche and I have one comment:

On the side of Gt Sth closest to the motorway, when you hit the roundabout and head up Ellerslie Panmure highway, I notice that this section is not actually joining the roundabout. However this route still gives way to roundabout traffic.

It's a nutcase of a junction, and you see close shaves in that lane especially. You guys will know better than me from a Waze POV, but is that section likely to cause problems at all?

No, that's not right. I get routed there as appropriate. Can you give a route - a starting and ending destination that you think should get on at Ellerslie, and doesn't?

Ok, I've spent 10 minutes looking at this, and I don't see what you mean.

In real-life or on the map? Which section? It all seems correct to me.
