Waze Map Editing problem

Postby WMR9972 » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:07 pm

Hi I'm new to waze map editing. Tried just now but when landmark was inputted, I click on the properties to name it, the properties field didn't appear. How can I resolve this?

Pls advise, tks. Goh

Are you using the current map editor (editor in the url) or the old editor (cartouche_old in the url)?

Note, this is how I would do it, if I was creating a landmark, but my opinion is to limit the number of landmarks I create now. They are not used in the search routines (that is provided by third parties bing/google/foursquare/etc.), and in most cases they make the map look cluttered.

In the current editor:

1) Hover over the plus sign in the top menu
2) Select landmark in the drop down
3) Draw the boundary of the landmark, making sure to not cross boundaries with each other (you are drawing the outline)
4) Double click to place the last point
5) If the Properties box is not already opened, click on the left facing arrow on the left edge of the editing map
6) Define the Type
7) Optionally define the name (though keep in mind that landmark names have a tendency to show up at zoom levels that make the map look very cluttered.)
8) save changes by clicking on the floppy icon in the top menu.

Hi Rallychris, I'm using the current editor. Problem is when I click on the properties tab, the tab did appear but the whole tab is white. Now I have another prOblem which is I've zero score & can't edit eventhough I'm currently a Waze adult.

Pls advise, tks.

The tab is white unless you have something (road, landmark, etc) selected in the editor.

Hi Andy, thanks for your response. I accessed the correct server via the link u've provided & it did direct me to Malaysia. You may think the following questions is for a dummy but I can't find the link to Waze Map Editor. Appreciate your help, tks.

WME is the "Waze Map Editor"... And I think you've already found it...

It is accessed by clicking "Live Map" at the top of the page, then just above and to the left of the live map is a link to the "Update Map". That is what is commonly referred to as "WME".
