Purple Monster

I have a quick question about the purple monster.
In the 32-page post, folks had a rather cute looking monster show up, such as:


I've succeeded at getting the monster, but he looks kinda creepy instead:

Is that part of the newer release of Waze?

I actually like the new design. That's pretty much what I looked like, when I finally got the purple dude... (Leaving aside the fact that I, in real life, am two-eyed and a tad paler.)
My facial expression after staring at a screen for hours of map-editing probably comes close to this as well... (Including the one-eyed thing.)
