I believe this broke some time ago and has not yet been fixed.

Ok bad emoticon used. It was a rhetorical question. The VIP icons got killed right when I crossed my 200K edits/rank 5, asked for my VIP status, got the VIP confirmation, and some hours later saw the announcement/reports on the forum that there was no more VIP icons
