I-205w not routing correctly - Northern CA

Postby nolimitssjca » Sat Jul 21, 2012 6:52 am

Road is locked so I can't see what's going on. You can see by the large number of reports that the routing is wrong.

Any ideas?

The problem is not in this area... it most likely is further down I-205, but without knowing the final destination we can't simulate the drive to figure out where the issue is.

I did modify the ramps to not allow straight across on the ramps, but that is to avoid a completely unrelated issue. I'm marking the URs as "not identified", so hopefully they will visit the forums with more details.

Might also have already been solved, but not been processed to live map yet due to the infrastructure changes.

I'm seeing recent edits further down the freeway.

Hey RallyChris, thanks for the reply. I ran into this on my trip from Sacramento to San Jose. I'm sure the same routing would happen if you started on I-5 and I-205 then ended at I-680 and I-580 (Pleasanton). (Is there a way to simulate this?)

It wanted me to exit south bound and catch the northbound on-ramp of the merging freeway (I-580 I believe). Made now sense at all.

The best way to simulate is to use livemap, click where the start point, set as origin, and click the end point and set as destination.

RallyChris you're a wealth of information! I figured it out. The interstate is marked as a 1 way road. I can't fix it because it locked. But at least I was able to sort it out. Thanks!

Post a permalink to that. All interstates are one-way. Is the interstate in question not split on the Waze editor map?

Might also be that no one has manually cleaned this area up, and the auto detect routines got the direction wrong because of the close proximity.

+1 to if you can supply a permalink a local area manager or a country manager take a look at this.

Reposted from above https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=3&lat ... s=62845008

It actually runs one way into 2 way back to 1 way. This must be the root of the problem. Who can edit an interstate?

I'll take a look.

Permission model is covered in the wiki, but in general.

Non area manager, can edit any road that is not locked in their permission area (where they have driven, and the server has been able to process it correctly).
locked roads, you need to be the same level (cones) as the person that last edited the segment.

Area managers, can override locks in their area

Country managers, are area managers with an automatic coverage of the whole country.
