Another Odd Route

Is it possible it's faster, if the left turn can only go on an arrow, and the arrow is short, then it could takes several minutes to take a left (I know an intersection where it takes over 90 seconds to get an arrow (and can only go on an arrow), but also takes 3 cycles to get through it if your in the back. )

If there is right on red, one could take a right if clear, then cross all the lanes, hang a u-turn, and go straight through the green light...

It is conceivable that under certain conditions its faster to make the right and U, but seems unlikely to me. There lights are timed to get the left turns through the intersection. Most traffic is turning onto Gov Ritchie, theres not much actual cross traffic going straight through.

I just figured something had to be amiss with that junction so I pulled it apart (without saving it) and there it was.

I'm now finding little things like this a bunch of places where weird routing has been reported. That being said, I'm still not sure how you found this one. When I pull apart a junction without saving, the roads don't change - the orange lines just show the proposed changes until I save. I haven't figured out how to find things like this without tearing apart and saving.

Its not happening for me now either. Does seem to be based on the time slice data. I'll see what happens if I ask support about this one.

I'm still getting URs at this intersection that complain about being given right/U instructions rather than a left and right/U/right instructions rather than going straight through.

Upon further thought about this, I believe that there may be a fundamental problem with the waze calculations. First I understand that there is a possibility that the right/U might be on average faster than the left (this is an intersection with its own left turn signal). However, I do not believe that the right/U/right is actually on average faster than going straight through the intersection. It is my understanding that waze does rely on different time data depending on which way you are turning. But, I'm not convinced that this works when entering/crossing a split highway, this is because both left turns and cross-traffic have their delay on the segment prior to the highway. Then both left turns and cross-traffic proceed to the cross-segment. Thus, I'm guessing that waze does not distinguish between left turn traffic and cross traffic when determining the average time that you wait at the light.

It would be valuable if Waze could find these and identify them as a Map Problem in WME. Much more value to identify this type of problem than a missing road in a Parking Lot or Gas Station...
