Route in Irvine, CA

Postby nineballer26 » Tue Aug 30, 2011 6:01 am

Hello,

I have been taking this route from Bake Pkwy & Rockfield Blvd, Irvine, CA 92618 to irvine blvd and sand canyon ave, irvine, 92620 since I have joined Waze and the only time it offers the route is after I pass the Toll road 133.

I have never received an alternate route for this route, even though this is the only way I have traveled to this destination.

SR-133 is a toll road I am avoiding.

Please see below as to the route I take.

Thanks,

Waze currently does not have a way of marking toll roads, so they can be selectively ignored. So most likely the toll road due to all the variables (Most notably average speed) is the "best" route. Once you pass it, of course you get a recalc, that the toll road is not factored in as you are past it.

Until their is a avoid toll road option, you might try selecting alternatives when planning the route, or setting the destination as a favorite, and using learn routes (as long as you are traveling to this destination at the same time each day, waze will "sometimes" learn your preferred route over the "best" route).

And this is since June? You have the "Work" location set in the Drive To menu? You do have the "learn frequent routes" setting enabled, correct? If so, this is quite odd as that should be more than enough time to learn the route to your Work location.

And as Chris suggests, when you say "never received an alternate route" does that mean you do bring up the alternative routes to check if it shows there?

Thanks for the responses.

Auto learn routes is on
This route is both set as my home and my work address

I did read that it can not figure out toll roads, however, the arrival time when it suggests the toll, and the route I inherently choose by passing the toll road is only off by a minute or 2, so I would think even if it wants to direct me through the toll, since it is the best route, the alternative route I choose should be on there too.

Yes - I do try to bring up routes and I only get 1 route and the message saying 'No valid alternatives were found for this destination'

If it helps, I have the iphone 4 and the release is 2.4.0.0

Again, thanks for your input
