Freescale Interchange - U-turn to Fed Highway

Postby andrewkjs » Fri May 25, 2012 9:25 am

Moving a technical discussion to the forums from Facebook as it's easier when replies can be quoted and screenshots are in-line. :)

Let's go through the first set of navigation instructions, namely, u-turning from Fed Highway back to Fed Highway on the opposite direction.

Ideal navigation instructions:
1. Turn right
2. Turn right

In the livemap now (last update 5.17.2012), both instruction #1 and #2 are there.

However, in the current WME version, instruction #1 will be missing. Instruction #2 will still be there as the junction hasn't changed, so no issue with #2.

Hi Andrew,

before Point 1, there is a Y split which we will get either 'keep left' or 'keep right' (if u want to U turn)

and it suppose at what u mention it should be a 'turn right' and point 1. your earlier edit has another ramp linked to it and it could be the problem.

Based on the current edited map, there will be no 'keep right' instruction at the Y split, no matter how you angle it. I'm 99% sure of this. ;)

and it suppose at what u mention it should be a 'turn right' and point 1. your earlier edit has another ramp linked to it and it could be the problem.

The other ramp that links to this node is the reason why a correct 'turn right' prompt gets generated. But now that it's been detached, there will be no 'turn right' prompt when the driver reaches the turn at #1. This is because Waze does not generate any turn prompts if the route is moving across a node that has only two segments, even if it is angled at 90 degrees.

Let's start with the basics; what do you think should be the correct navigation instruction when a driver is taking this route? Is it different from what I've mentioned above? ('turn right' followed by 'turn right')

It should be a turn right and point 1, then turn right again back to Fed

It should be a turn right and point 1, then turn right again back to Fed

this an example how gmap work...

i forget to mention, u r right, when only 2 segment there will no voice prompt, perhaps have to add the road again.

will think of a better way which can get that voice prompt

option 1:

add a road from point 1 connect to left (LDP) then it will give u a right turn here.

option 2: move the Y junction before point 1 to point 1, which will give u turn right as well.

as for the turn from LDP to Fed,

i do suggest that middle use a 1 x 2way. then connect to Fed function.
