Yes, there are some regular users using waze but not that many. New users are turned off when routing doesn't work well due to roads not properly connected.

I'm trying my best to name all roads and make it routable. Sure eats up a lot of time editing the map... Do let me know if anyone finds that I'm editing the incorrect way. Waze on!

Hey Malaysian Wazers, is it OK for me to make these assumptions?
1) Freeway is for interstate, e.g. PLUS, ELITE, NKVE, etc.
2) Major highway is for those tolled highways and those labelled as lebuhraya, e.g. Kerinchi, LDP, Sprint, Penchala.
3) Minor highway is for those BIG jalan like Jalan Duta, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Damansara, etc.
4) Primary street is for those main road in that area like Jalan Kepong, Jalan Cheras
5) Street is all other small roads.

Do let me know, OK!

Hi Alvin,
you can go here http://world.waze.com/cartouche/ to edit maps. Do read the wiki http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Map_Editing on how to edit maps before you begin.
Thanks for your support and good luck!

Hi guys,
We need more wazers to help us in KL map editing. There's a lot of work to be done. Do open up cartouche at least once in a while to do some updating ya... Thanks!

Hi Hooijack,

I'm helping as much as I can. I did a lot of editing the last two weeks and found a lot of problems like eg Mahameru mapped as one view etc.

I've recently sent out a long list to my FB friends and my team here at Celcom which consists of almost 70 people. Since then got a couple of new joiners on Waze, but as you rightfully said so it's hard as a newbie as the routing isn't working. I do find almost on every trip that the routing isn't there due to not properly connected streets, especially on highway ramps.

Well, the spaghetti ramps here in KL really don't help much, they're some of the most complicated once, right now I'm working on Bulatan Pahang, which is 3 level deep.

What I've also noticed is that we need to agree on some rules on how to name ramps (going to and away from highways) and to make the roads next to flyovers (like Jalan Tun Razak) as service roads (that is correct according to the word document that Waze sends out to new area managers). It's very confusing, please also avoid writing street names in CAPITAL letters, all need to be in small letters (well, starting with a capital though LOL).

I'd also like to suggest that we reach out to all people that are interested and maybe use this group as an organizing way to discuss eg which mayor highway to do next. If we manage to make every mayor highway in the correct fashion (that is actually making two separate roads, both one way roads), then we can move on to work on all mayor ramps where these highways have intersections with other highways or primary streets.

Please let me know your comments,

Andreas

Hi Hooijack,

what I found extremely useful is to checkout Google Maps, not only because their aerial view is much better and can be used at a lower granularity, but as they actually already solved your questions above. Jalan Pahang or Jalan Ipoh is eg a Primary street according to them.

I do think the freeways are mainly the ones connecting the big cities, like KL to JB, KL to East Coast or to Ipoh/Penang. Means a freeway is outside of the cities, with almost no exists just connecting the big cities.

There's also an excellent article on this topic in the wiki, you might want to check it out further (obviously being based on the US):
