In Settings => General there is a option for selecting the Navigation voice (iPhone app). Or have I misunderstood what you mean?

Vocal guidance only in Dutch ?

Postby gettingthere » Fri Jun 22, 2012 12:29 am

Currently only one TTS language (tge official language) is supported per country. Waze has promised to enhance this in the future.

You can always use a language without full navigation guidance (non-TTS) in the meantime.

Hi,
I appreciate the effort doing by Waze/Wazers and understand the investment that implicates to put a hundreds of languages and even 3-4 languages per country.
But before updating the version 3.2 (the latest one) I was using English language (in Belgium). What is a bit sad is that now we can just use Dutch in the app.
For my point of view it would be great to do as before and leave only one international language like English.
Or may be I missed up something and I can add again English language as navigation in the new version?
Thank you for your help and clarifications.
Great job guys and wish to see soon the Gas stations prices added in Europe too (in USA the prices is 6x cheaper than in Europe, we actually amazingly need it :) )
Wish you best always!

Thank you,
Yes it is the voice guidance system on android phones :)
It used to be that we could have English instructions guidance, now is Dutch. Will make me concentrate twice and practice my Dutch  .
I will wait patiently for the next update and improvement :)
Yes indeed we can use different running language for the app but not for the vocal guidance navigation.
See you next on the road guys :)
Be safe.

Vocal guidance only in Dutch ?

The application chooses it's language automaticaly now. As à dutchman you also get German if you are in Germany, you get english when you are in the UK,....so for the moment we have to choose between the TTS guidance and live with this or use 'normal' guidance and choose another language...

It is, but TTS is just new in Waze...In the future they possibly are changing this as soon more languages for a single country are selectable...

Vocal guidance only in Dutch ?

Postby osmeest » Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:28 pm

Hi,
I'm new to Waze. The app is very promising.
One thing immediately popped up though:
Although the app runs in French on my HTC smartphone, the only proposed language for the vocal guidance is Dutch. Belgium being multi cultural, I would expect at least, French, Dutch, German and English. Is there a way to add new languages ?

Thanks.

What a very bad idea to setup that langugage automatically.... :-( So if I am French talking and living in Russia, am I OBLIGED to have Waze in Russian ? Even if I don't know Russian ? Isn't it user unfriendly that ?
