Foursquare - How do I make my device "check in"?

I have entered the login/password for Foursquare into my Windows Media version of Waze.

I also see that it is logged in, when I look at the status.

However it doesn't seem to be sending anything to Foursquare...

When I log into the Foursquare website, with the same login/password - no activity appears.

Am I supposed to do something?

I have Waze on my Android and have found that the Foursquare connection is spotty. Most of the time it says that it's connecting, but then do nothing. Then I can drive a few blocks away and it will connect and find nearby venues or say that there's nothing around. Lately, it's been worse and it wasn't until I was in the US before it actually connected to Foursquare properly.

I just kept trying until finally I was able to check into enough different places to get the Road Warrior badge. I keep trying once in awhile, but most of the time I just use the foursquare app.
