earning rights to edit more than a mile around

What do you have to do in order to earn more miles to edit around. I have been doing a ton of map edits and my rank is 774 shouldn't I at least be able to a little more than one mile not that there isn't enough editing to do around the one mile but was just wondering.

In order to be able to edit more then 1m around the routes you travel you would need to request AM permission. AM is Area Manager and as the name implies its only for a certain specific area, ie your state etc.

You sadly can't get the right to edit 2m around all your routes etc. But keep editing the map and you should eventually get to 200,000 edits and thus apply for CM, Country Manager. Then you should be able to edit the entire country map, unless I am mistaken?
