Maybe you should be blaming the data provider for incorrect placement of the point. Check it on Google Maps or Bing Maps, depending on which one you used.

It happens that when I'm driving and I report a mistake on the map... Then, later, I arrive my home and I want to update this mistake (If I reported that mistake, I would have the knowledge to fix it). Ussually, I found it and fix it, but sometimes I forget where the report was.

I think that would be usefull if we can find all the reports addressed by ourselves, looking to fix them

This exists but is not shown by default. See this post.

i've wanted a compass too, but something more like this: Image

user configurable as to whether it shows up as degrees or cardinal, or shows up at all.

When you live in a smaller city or town...

Postby brockvegas1001 » Tue Jul 24, 2012 3:59 pm

I love Waze.

Using it in a smaller city, however, has it's challenges. Here are just a couple, even when Anonymous is turned on:

- It's easy for someone to know who you are and where you live, when you're home or not, etc. over time.
- Events, such as construction or accidents disappear/timeout too quickly

I'd like to suggest two features:

1) Add the option, "Don't display your current location to other Waze users if within [ x ] km of your home and work address (as stored in Waze)"
2) Set the timeout values for events higher in smaller cities, or even better, in cities that have fewer reports. In a city like Toronto, 10 minutes might be fine, in a city like Woodstock, Ontario, 60-90 minutes would be better.

I'd also like to throw in another feature, and that is a Pause Reporting feature. A bunch of us use Waze while we're running errands or going to garage and yard sales. This results in Waze reporting slowdowns or traffic when there really aren't any. Now we have to use Shut Down each time we stop, which is quick, but then we have to start the application back up and that can sometimes take minutes for Waze to reinitialize and update its map.

Otherwise great product. Thanks!

A very simple thing I'd like to have on the main page is a bar displaying the battery-status of the smartphone. I only have one port in my car and can't charge my phone and something else at the same time.

In fact, I use to have my GPS navigator AND my phone with Waze, because the french map isn't completely clear (yeah, I'm french, that's why I have a terrible english). I use Waze only for the community and its indications on the road.

While this should be something your phone does, mine does. The charge issue isn't difficult to address without too much expense. You should look into a DC Socket Splitter Can allow you to use more than one charger at once. A simple double socket adapter is all you should need. Another option depending on the connectors your GPS uses would be a car charger for your phone with an additional USB port or a charger plug with multiple USB ports. Hope you can find something that fits your needs. (Note: both links are just to Google search results for the two device types)

Next comment:

On the first point it's already been discussed how poor a source of timing information that really is. And how knowing when you get home if it actually even plotted you at your destination, which it's not supposed to do, isn't dangerous information. Waze displays a random 20 of the nearest Wazers, but not when they are within a certain distance from their end points. I've watched for siblings (who use Waze) when I knew they were coming to visit. So far I've only seen one, about two miles out and seconds after I saw her Icon on Waze she walked in the door. The Icons you see on the screen have at minimum a four minute time delay.

Events time out early sometimes even in populated areas. But I agree that certain events shouldn't time out very quickly regardless of where they are UNLESS another Wazer clicks the "Not There" button when they get the warning. Construction events should last no less than two hours without a confirmation update from another Wazer and Accidents, depending on the severity shouldn't time out in less than 30 min for minor and and hour min for a major, and of course if a passing Wazer marks it "Not There" when they drive through the warning it should disappear.

I dunno if it's been suggested but i'd like to see something like yelp integrated to be able to add points of interest and rate them 1-5 stars with a brief description like places to eat, service stations, bars, and anything else would be awesome. Especially giving points to wazers who stop and eat or use the services and rate them as well. Would be especially useful for wazers who travel a lot and don't know there way around the new places could find the best place to eat fast.

Is what you are thinking of significantly different from the current Yelp integration? I haven't really used Yelp or the Yelp results in Waze myself so I don't know.

The integrated yelp search in Waze is only to find POI's and read reviews. No ability to leave reviews, check in, integrate with your yelp account, edit details, etc.

Ability to chose what kind of transportation is used when using waze. For example, if I use bicycle waze will not alert everybody around me about traffic jam on my route.
