Hazard Reports

Postby zac08 » Tue Jul 31, 2012 7:08 pm

I frequently do hazard reports and I realise that there are actually more to be reported than those avaiable in the program.

Currently,

Hazard

On Road
    Object On Road
    Construction
    Pothole
    Roadkill

How about adding vehicle breakdown to this list or slow moving vehicles. Also if there could be a choice of indicating the lanes such as left, center and right where this problem occurs, it'll be much easier than for us to type it in.

Shoulder
    Car Stopped
    Animals
    Missing Sign

Road works or construction as suggested by a few others would be rather helpful.

Also, as in our country Singapore drives on the left side of the road, the indicator of my lane vs the opposite lane is reversed. So could there be a difference for those of us who drives in our traffic?

I wonder how that icon looks in the UK?

It should look the same for all as I don't think there is any customisation for individual countries. It would be great though if there could be some form of changes in terms of driving orientation.

Best thing to do for now is report the hazard with the option that best fits the scenario, and then put in a comment when you are stopped or its safe to do so. Not ideal but as i have read elsewhere in the forum, the list of things that could be added could become too long. I do agree with you that a disabled vehicle on road is a good option.

Yeah we've pointed this out several times! Fairly minor aesthetic issue though really.

I agree with everything that was said in the above post, but I would also like to see a Fire and or EMS selection in the hazard section as well. Being a Firefighter myself, I would love for people to have the heads up when im on the road ways, since everyday someone is trying to run us over.
Just a thought but would realy be appreciated.

Can anything be done about the number of False Hazards that are reported. By that I mean things such as a car parked 20 feet off the shoulder. I find myself clearing these on a constant basis. Its really annoying and turns the system into a "cry wolf" scenario after a while. What is the general feeling on this?

Tell me about this.

Currently, there has been a spate of false reports on speed traps and red light cameras which have popped up over various locations in my country and you cna imagine the irritation. I understand that some of them are trying to report a mobile camera from a cop ambushing drivers, but it's not a permanent thing and such reports are permanent.

Also I had reports of a red light camera existing on a expressway!! How would one find a red light camera when there are no red lights on an expressway?

I agree about a Fire and EMS selection.

I realize that there are many choices for hazards (expecially when I have to choose one from a list while in traffic), but I came across a flooded road the other day and the best I could report was "rain", so maybe a "Road Flooded" choice or something more broad like "Poor road conditions"

Think of it like this, Why are you guys on the highway in the first place? Usually for an accident, right? The report should be for an accident. It's not like you guys just get on the highway and block traffic for the fun of it...
