Police erasing their own location?

To add to that, Waze employs a time delay. The cop who is resolute on catching errant drivers, using Waze will have a forgettable time.

Also while there have been situations where users have reported suspicion that the police are removing the posts, there have also been multiple reports here of users getting thanked by User Identities that indicate the person saying thanks was the police. In otherwords if the police are running the speed trap purely to generate revenue they are more likely to try removing said reports, but if they are honestly just trying to control speeding for safety (supposedly what they all are doing) they aren't likely to remove such reports as the reports do slow drivers down, (at least Wazers).

I'm relatively new to Waze, but consider it a breakthrough. Living here in Panama, we regularly run a 400 km gauntlet of radar setups between David and Panama City. On my to/from trip this weekend, around 30% of the private cars were running Waze! The police detection was perfect.

However, sooner or later the cops are going to catch on and start an arms race. One thing they might try is to erase their position when they are sitting by the side of the road. Of course, the next Wazer would re-initialize it, but it could be a problem. Is there a provision in the system to disable reports/erasures from stationary vehicles, or multiple reports from the same user, as the cop would be?

I would be interested in contributing more to the development of the system.

Not sure about officers using the mobile app, but they can definitely use the live map to know that you know. All in all, it will probably end up similar to when just a handful of people had radar detectors. For now there aren't enough wazers on the roads for cops to invest too much into it. They'll wait for the sucker who has no clue.
