I regularly get reports of traffic - but rarely does the report indicate the direction of the traffic - it just states the name of the road - which is useless. I also get reports of traffic miles away and not on my route. Why do I get these - who would even want them? (I apologize if this is addressed elsewhere - I searched...)

Reports pop up when stopped within your set event radius of your route, or location if you are not in navigation mode. There are dozens of threads about this, so check your search criteria.

You only get them standing still. While driving you will only get those brought to your attention that are on your route.
