Linking to forum threads for wiki pages

Post by PesachZ
When there is (or you are creating) a forum thread for a US wiki page please link to the specific forum thread from the Discussion page of that wiki page.

You can do this easily using the {{ForumLink}} template. There are a few ways to use that template. You can either supply the full URL and title of your forum thread in the template, or supply just the topicid of the forum thread and the community (US).

Examples:
  1. using full URL, for example to link to this thread.

    Code: Select all

    {{ForumLink|forum=https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1636&t=192124}}
  2. to add the forum thread title, simply add a pipe (|) after the URL, and put the title like this:

    Code: Select all

    {{ForumLink|forum=https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1636&t=192124|Linking to forum threads for wiki pages}}
  3. using the topicid of the thread (for the USA)

    Code: Select all

    {{ForumLink|192124|community=USA}}
  4. using the topicid of the thread (for the USA), and adding a title

    Code: Select all

    {{ForumLink|Linking to forum threads for wiki pages|192124|community=USA}}
To see how this looks in a wiki page you can see all four of these examples on this wiki page.

PS It is OK to have multiple forum links for one wiki page. The forum link code also allows it be specified as applying only to a specific section with the |section=yes parameter.
