Weird routing problem

A few days ago Waze directed me along an alternate route to avoid a traffic jam. However now it ALWAYS wants to send me along this same alternate route even if there is no traffic on the original (shorter and faster) route. Anyone see this behavior? Any way to get Waze to direct me along the proper route in this case?

Have you checked in the map editor to see if someone introduced a map error?

Also, see the full detailed answer in the FAQ: http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/FAQ# ... _routes.3F. It's not exactly your situation, but the "having data" stuff still applies.

Hi,

I checked the Map Editor and didn't see a map error for this route.
Perhaps I need to drive this gnarly route a few times to gather route info.

Go to the live map and play around setting start and destinations. From playing around changing the start or end points might help see where the route won't go the way you want. Then post a permalink from update map and area you think the problem is. It might be something you aren't seeing but a senior editor on here might pick up on.

It's a bit tough to mess with start and destination endpoints given this is a mountain overpass (the infamous Highway 17 in the Santa Cruz mountains). You can see clearly the problem on the live map when you ask for directions from Scotts Valley CA to Los Gatos CA.

Looking here, your not the only one reporting problems:

Taking a quick look, I found a couple of nodes with reverse connections. I fixed those, but I don't think that would cause this many problems. Maybe someone from CA can take a look who would know better. Looked like someone was in the area updating on Dec 5, so if there was a problem that was fixed, it should have made the update on Dec 10th.

To set start and end points on the live map, you can left click on a road and you get a bubble with choices of start or end point.

Interesting to see a huge mess of map problems on Highway 17. I have no idea how to fix these issues; looks like someone really hosed the map in this area

There was a problem along CA-17 N that I fixed (on Dec 13) in response to this thread: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=34383

It was just north of those URs at the split for Laurel Rd... It should make the NEXT map update (not the one that went out today)... Feel free to close out all those URs (and any more that come in).

Excellent! My particular problem on Hwy 17 appears to be resolved! Waze is no longer sending me along the wrong path via Glenwood Cutoff! Thanks for fixing this! Kevin
