Future waze versions and operating systems
We've just released waze version 3.0 for iPhone. This is a major release which runs on a new client infrastructure. Our previous infrastructure was originally designed for non touch devices and used a non native compatibility layer. Thus we were limited in our ability to leverage most of the capabilities of the new touch devices. The new infrastructure throws that away and relies on the native UI of each OS. This results in a much improved UI along with other native features (animations, etc).
We're currently planning to support both iPhone and Android and we'll consider supporting new platforms. With that said, older device platforms (Symbian, WM, Blackberry) do not support either a full native UI or other APIs we now rely on and we are unable to support them.
We realize this is a disappointment for our WM, BB and Symbian users. Our current versions for these operating systems will remain working and operational.
