Jacksonville & Orlando

Postby MarionOaks » Sat Feb 18, 2012 3:02 am

I'm working on two major cities in Florida and want to know if anyone is interested in helping, we could split up the cities into quadrants, and each person fixes their quadrant. I'm also working on The Villages (which was extremely messed up before I touched it the past couple days)

Post a permalink to the area you need help with. If you give me a few days, I can help out. There's a major New Orleans suburb I'm trying to finish, and then after that, I'm pretty much free to help with anything, as long as I have two or three other sources to check against.

I'll try to post a permalink in a couple days (I'm busy fixing The Villages/wildwood/Orlando) lol. When I'm done with the section I'm working on I'll figure something out.

Due to an upcoming trip, I'm working the International Drive area now. There seems to be several primary roads that are 4-land divided with very distinct GPS tracks that are not accurately reflected as such.

I don't really want a whole "quadrant," per say, but have already taken the initiative to address the triangle between I-4, Florida's Tpke, and SR-528, plus the immediate area to the west of I-4 along this same triangle and extend slightly south of SR-528 into Sea World.

In going back and reviewing existing guidelines wiki on splitting roads, I believe it is incorrect. The "5-meter" separation is too arbitrary. Universal and International need to be split. They have grass medians wide enough that there are trees planted in some places.

Anyone think these segments should be split? At three-to-four lanes in each direction and definable GPS tracks in each direction, that would be my take.

Yes, that's definitely a candidate for splitting. This is one of those situations where the median might not be wide enough, but the separation of the outside lanes is so great that it's necessary.
