Check out the CT Construction page. It may give you some ideas...

The basic format, yes, but I've tweaked it a bit...

If you look at the root Connecticut page you can see everything we've done in the wiki - although the CT Roads by Type is a real mess once we get past Freeway & Major Highway... It's on my to-do list once I get done actually doing the road types on the map...

I'm not sure how to make any changes, and as a level 1 map editor the intersection is off-limits anyways - but two major ramps are closed in Columbus today, for the next month. The Paving the Way link is http://www.pavingtheway.org/i-270/

"The ramp from I-270 north to I-70 west and the ramp from I-70 east to I-270 north will close June 4 for 30 days. The closures are necessary to reconstruct the ramps. Before those ramps close, the ramp from I-270 north to I-70 east will re-open. The detour for I-270 north to I-70 west will be I-270 north to Cemetery Road to I-270 south to I-70 west. The detour for I-70 east to I-270 north will be I-70 east to Wilson Road to I-70 west to I-270 north. (ODOT)"

It's kind of a big deal. Maybe some day I'll get better at this.

Thanks for the replies - I have dabbled in editing from time to time, usually with bursts of enthusiasm followed by months of inactivity. I'm in one of those bursts right now, triggered by my wife trying to head north on I-270, even after she saw on the news that the ramp was closed, because Waze said so. I knew I couldn't fix a high-level route like that, but couldn't figure out the best way to report the issue from my desk.

Anyways, I'll try to become more involved. It is something I enjoy, but I find myself getting distracted from my real work after "just taking a few minutes" adjusting road geometry. 45 minutes later.

What do you think?

I'm open to criticism. :D

Nice... Will do. Did you copy that from the "To-Do" sections?

NOW how's it look? I also started the AM section for Ohio. Hopefully that will get the ball rolling for the rest of them :D

O and Andy, I stole your format for your User page (hope you don't mind). I will admit, it feels kinda weird and snobby to type in third person. O well.

What I would recommend is reading around the forum and editing wiki for a while to learn best practices. If you have any questions that you can't find in one of those places, most of us hear are more than happy to help. After you feel more comfortable making minor changes around where you have driven (if the segments aren't locked), you can apply to be an area manager (how-to in the wiki). This won't unlock everything for you but it will give you a higher ranking and give you more area to work with.

Most highways are locked because of the volume of traffic that travels on them daily. One wrong edit (on accident or negligence) could affect the reputation of this community and, no offense because I was there, new editors usually don't follow best practices or will make outright incorrect edits.

Just take your time and research a lot and you will be fine. If you don't want to invest the time into that, you can just continue to report these types of things through the app or forums.

Hope this helps.

Back to the original subject-- now that a lot more folks are familiar with google docs, how 'bout moving the construction page to a google spreadsheet? I find that I spend more time trying to get the format of the wiki-markup language right when I put things on the construction page than I do actually making the change in waze.
