It is not believed that the setting specified has anything to do with Waze offering you a route that it knows is a favorite of yours on the Alternative Routes screen. This setting seems to be specifically related to the 'Good morning NWnightfly, Driving to Work?' prompt that you would like to suppress.

Also, Waze will always route you the fastest way by default. So Waze will not learn your preferred way and route you that way if it is not the fastest route at the time you set your route. Waze should present your favorite as an alternative route, if not the fastest. But it has been reported in other forum posts that this function is not currently working.

If I may make a separate feature suggestion: there's already an option in navigation to "avoid highways." It would be nice to have a second option to "avoid toll roads," as tolling is becoming a big thing around here, and it seems like many of my destinations in Seattle get routed through the 520 bridge, which now has a (rather high) toll. I'd like to be able to keep using highways, but not roads that require payment to use.

Toll is on the road map. It's being tested in Israel. And I seem to recall that the only hurdle left was adding it to the editor here. Of course, this is probably not as high as the infrastructure overhaul on the priorities list.

That's what it is. It may not be the most clearly named function, but that's what it is.

Re: iOS Version 3.1 Feedback Thread - memory issue

Postby erik_kramer » Tue Feb 28, 2012 2:01 pm

I believe you may still have a memory issue with your current version: it occurred with the prior version, as well. This is how I've experienced it:

When my iPhone runs low on memory (e.g. only a few hundred megabytes of free space available) then Waze eventually crashes. That's fine, I guess, but it doesn't shutdown gracefully and it furthermore does not recover. On subsequent launches, I receive exception type / code of EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) / KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x4c436b20 on thread 0.

I'm guessing that when iOS runs out of memory it clears apps' local cache and Waze does not account for this.

The only workaround I found was to uninstall the app and reinstall it: not a healthy user experience.

An easier way to access "Groups" is needed (needs to be lifted out of a sub-menu).
An easier way to access "Map Issue" is needed (esp. on landscape mode: If "Map Issue" and "Chat" swapped places on the list, it would put an unnecessary menu option to the back for those who are driving and shouldn't be typing anyway).

Is there any way to correct the "Waze" submitted traffic information? I find it is often ridiculously wrong.

Req: Audio priority setting

Postby DaCarMan » Wed Feb 29, 2012 9:43 am

Hi,

I love Waze. And with the TomTom Car Kit it gets even better. However, I'd like to see a change in how the audio output is handled.

My Setup:
TomTom Car kit. iPhone paired with BT headset and Car Kit. Also the TomTom kit is connected to my car stereo.

Request:
I'd like to be able to set the priority for which audio device to use for output, not just BT or speaker priority.

With this feature I would prioritize the car kit so I can listen to music or take calls and hear Waze through the car kit at the same time.

If Waze is reporting a traffic slow down, it will automatically correct itself when it sees that people are moving through the area at a higher rate of speed.

There is no manual way of changing or resolving the traffic congestion information.

You are correct. When iOS runs out of memory, it attempts to free up whatever non-vital memory it can. I currently have an 8GB phone, and it's usually full. I lose my map cache, and often times, it attempts to prepare the voice for navigation, and goes nowhere. I've also noticed that when this happens, the iPhone shows 0 bytes, and when I relaunch my "Hanging With Friends" game, it will re-download the 500+ resource files, as iOS has automatically cleared them out.

iOS handles the audio for the most part. Each app can specify what output to use, but iOS limits one output at a time. If apps are set to use the same output, the audio will be ducked. If different outputs are specified, iOS stops the output of the first app so the second app can output over the specified device. If the first app supports restarting, iOS will restart it.
