Look at your phone.

Other people have mentioned it here too. :?

Man, I read the forums pretty regularly and this is the first I heard of it. I did check it before I posted and saw it was gone, so I'm very pleased in the end.

1) We told them at the Palo Alto meet up that they need to disable it on the server and not rely on the clients having it turned off or not. If that isn't the case and the clients may have it turned on in the background and the routing server is still adjusting routing accordingly, then that would be stupid.

2) I really don't understand what the problem is about turning it off on the world infrastructure. Why on earth are they building something so horrendously complicated that they can't turn off/ignore a simple routing option? I just do not get it.

Still trying to figure out if it still might be on in the background. In the user prefs file I find
Code: Select all
Routing.Prefer unknown directions: no
Routing.Allow unknown directions: yes

And in the main preferences file:
Code: Select all
Routing.Unknown roads: no
Routing.Allow unknown directions: yes

I don't have any idea if either of those was previously tied to the "prefer goodie munching" option or not. I bet the v2.4 source code would be able to tell us...

Interestingly, and totally OT, but I also found
Code: Select all
Events on Route.Feature enabled: yes
which hints at the promised up-coming feature of only showing events on the current route.

It still exists as an option that I can select on my Blackberry running waze 2.0.2.3.

I spoke too soon earlier. I don't use waze on the Blackberry anymore. I just fire it up when questions like this arise. So when I fired it up to see if the option was still there earlier, it hadn't been connected to the server for months. When I took it outside this evening to see how it routed, waze connected to the server and the prefer munching option disappeared.

I have noticed that when the map update procecss is going on, expecially the 48 hours that the tiles get updated, Waze will route really weird. I have accepted this as normal, and it lets me know that there will be updated maps soon.

Um could I be stuck in "Prefer Goodie Munching"?

Postby dwdockter » Fri Mar 16, 2012 4:13 pm

By happenstance I had Prefer Goodie Munching turned on when the iOS 3.1 update through. My question, is it possible that I am now stuck in Prefer Goodie Munching mode? Because I am getting many weird routings lately. However, it is quite possible that the weirdness is due to a big map update for my Houston, Texas area that came through at about the same time the iOS 3.1 update came through. So, should I blow off the weird routes, or do I have more map correcting to do?
