Ah, now that's something I'm familiar with, but never can figure out exactly how to reproduce it in order to submit a proper bug report. And I've seen it happen both ways: volume much louder than expected, and volume much quieter than expected (though the slider shows 100%). I'm not sure why Waze is so inconsistent with its volume.

Re: iOS Beta 3.1.99.15 Feedback thread

I got the email for this beta just as I was about to leave Colchester for home (a trip of about 150 miles) so it was still downloading on 3G as I set off.

Any, once running I had a quick play (though I did not explore everything in depth as I was driving).

My initial observations as as follows:
1. This beta is not stable at all. In 2.5 hour drive it crashed repeatedly (maybe 7 times, seemingly afer about 15 mins each time?). Debug mode logs uploaded.
2. TTS seems to work OK some of the time, but it keeps switching between normal voices and the TTS voice, very disconcerting (probably due to the constant need to upload crash logs?)
3. What does the not yet mentioned "Inbox" feature in my Waze do ... how do we send messages?
4. Selecting the category button always results in a crash.
5. "Prefer goodie munching" is still there, thought that was being removed?
6. The missing landscape mode is a real problem for me as the cradle in my car is landscape so it's hard to drive and Waze as I have to keep tilting my head ;-)
7. The slider for Device Volume in the Sound settings looks wrong (compared to the prompts volume one).

Other things:
1. The feedback form doesn't give me to the option to select this beta version (only the android .105 version)
2. Is there a roadmap for allowing ROW users to get ASR and/or gas Pricing (or petrol to us brits) ... TTS has taken over a year.

I'm not sure if it's disabled server side but I would have expected the option to be removed from the client at least.

AlanOfTheBerg wrote:The Inbox is for the future integration of message, firstly, I think, focused on editor/wazer communication regarding map issues.

That's what I figured but there was no mention in the release notes.

Interestingly, even though the release notes stated that Gas prices were not available for ROW the button is there, if you press it it just comes back and says "Uh Oh! Could not find any nearby gas stations" I'll have to try it when I'm at one that has been mapped.

Also the search function in the navigate menu does not work at all. You type in say a city to search for and hit "search" and nothing happens, so it's favourites or points on the map and nothing else :-(

Still there even after deletion and reinstall:

Yes it's still there on my Wife's iPhone 4.

I've got a couple of hundred miles to do today so I'll give it a proper try :-)

iOS Beta 3.1.99.15 Feedback thread

Postby Dave2084 » Mon May 21, 2012 7:45 am

Well, so much for deleting and reinstalling.

After deleting I used test flight to reinstall the beta and as it was late didn't really do much else except drop my custom map schema's onto the phone. Set off this morning and my initial excitement when landscape mode worked was lost when I realised it had installed the current release rather than the beta. :-(

When I initially installed it I did it from the link in the email which I have now done again.

Will now try it properly on my way home.

Has anyone else had this issue when installing from test flight?

Of course one of the problems I now face having deleted and reinstalled (twice) is that I've lost all my favourites and with no working search option I can only put them back by browsing the map, which involves knowing exactly where they are :-(

Nope, I've now done two delete reinstalls and neither time did it offer to restore them. First time was on wifi and second was on 3G.

I sync most days ...

I know it has worked for me in the past as I had my previous iPhone replaced by apple and reloaded Waze including favourites while I was in store for the drive home. That would have been on v2.x ... So maybe it's a v3 issue?

They're all back in now anyway it is only really a drama a search is broken.

Does search work on the NA servers?

Re: iOS Beta 3.1.99.15 Feedback thread

OK, observations from my drive home through rush hour from Telford to Lincoln (110 miles):

1. No Toll road avoidance. Waze does not seem capable of a route East/West or West/East north of Birmingham that does not involve the overpriced M6 Toll. Routes just gives you choices of where you exit the toll (A38/A5/M69). I know that this is not new to this beta but Waze is effectively useless for navigation in this area without Toll avoidance, please, please, please let's have it soon!

2. Stability. Only 2 crashes today, possibly due to deletion and re-install but this release is still nowhere near as stable as it should be.

3. Landscape mode missing. I know it's in the release notes but I'm getting a sore neck trying to look at it sideways while driving ;-)

3. Zoom by Distance. Waze is zooming in way too far ... to the point you can't see the junction:

4. TTS vs displayed distance. The new UK TTS is great (though she does, like the US voice sound like she's down a drain!) but when you're getting close to a junction the voice announces in yards and the screen is in feet. Can we unify our units? (Yards preferred under say 1/4 mile)

5. I've noticed a few times that if you deviate from the route auto recalculation does not always take place, at one point today 5 minutes passed (phone signal OK too).

6. Rendering Issues. Sometimes on dual carriageways Waze doesn't render the road correctly. It's OK on the web live map and if you zoom in the out (or vice versa) it's OK. I've noticed this prior to the beta but managed to get a screenshot before.
