I am running waze on a Galaxy Nexus with JB 4.2, and the brightness level is set at full. As I am commuting, the screen dims and brighens on it's own accord. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this expect that it doesn't happen at night. A search through the settings shows nothing that controls this.
Thoughts?
Brightness level fluctuates even when Auto isn't selected.

Sounds like a function of the hardware/OS that dims the screen depending on the actual light levels. Next time you see it do this, switch to a different app and see if the brightness varies.
