Long post warning!

I've driven 250 or so miles on this beta so far and despite what others have experienced it's been stable for me. In fact I've only had one crash and that was when I deleted and reinstalled when trying to get a custom colour schema installed. The crash happened when I was deleting the gazillion old favourites I didn't want and had previously deleted. Logs uploaded.

So ... here's my issues list:
1. The turn number for roundabouts is still not centred:

2. UK Petrol prices still get changed from .9 to .8:

3. The Event Radius is still not being obeyed (set to 25 miles):

4. I cannot see what I'm typing for a map issue report in landscape mode:

5. When reporting a map Issue the screen is still dimmed when you return to the map:

6. Speed Camera Warning captions still blocking the map and stay on screen way too long after you have passed it:

7. The changing route captions auto-dismiss timer is misplaced:
IMG_1553.PNG
IMG_1553.PNG (54.27 KiB) Viewed 474 times

8. The traffic report pop-up is a big box, yet it only has room for 34 characters ... can we allocate a bit more space in the road report box for the actual road report?

9. Since us Wazers get to the the "searching" box a fair bit these days is there any possibility that it could be moved to one side so I can see the map when it's taking far too long to search?

10. Although I said I hadn't had any crashes when driving, I did have a partial failure. I took a call on my way home and since there wasn't 3G reception Waze lost the server. Anyway when I brought the screen back up after the call the map was frozen. You'll notice I'm using "follow my ride" which seems to work well!

I was just about to kill waze and restart it when I noticed that the ETA and distance to go was still working, in fact TTS was still working too, plus I could leave reports: :-)

Just before I got home the "arriving at Destination" bar popped up. Notice that it's a different colour? Well the map should have flipped to night at this point ....

11. Tried to use the pick-up function with my wife's iPhone and my Son's android, both times it failed to work. The got the link OK, could connect to the map and request a pickup, but the pickup confirmation never arrived at my phone.

This is even worse when you receive a message from a group. It will display the group name in the box as well, in a huge font.

In a residential neighborhood going 20mph, I can drive nearly a full block before Waze starts to reroute. Perhaps there can be a better detection of leaving the route perpendicularly? I know that when the route we drive diverges from the nav route it can be more difficult as you must account for GPS inaccuracy, but if I turn where Waze was guiding me straight, or if I go straight where Waze was guiding me through a turn, I'd think it could detect and reroute more quickly.

iOS exposes the current accuracy in the location API. They could probably use that to figure out when it should be more/less sensitive. Not sure if it's code/cpu intensive to check it constantly though. Maybe always call the offroute function whenever it's off route enough for the most accurate setting(or whichever one they want to be the min) and then check to confirm the accuracy before actually starting the offroute process??

Just to make sure: in nav mode, the events are within the event radius of your route. You weren't navigating during this screen shot were you? I ask because I find the event radius to be obeyed just fine.

The space taken up by graphical elements and especially buttons is annoying. I understand why they changed the "thumbs up" icon but the "Comment" and "Thanks" buttons, I feel, should be smaller icons in the two bottom corners of the alert to give more room for text.

Is the gold wazer main menu the indicator for lacking server connection? I hadn't seen that before.

Ah. Meaning was too hidden for me. :) I've not used the feature.

I have some more info regarding island rendering in the app.

I have previously complained about islands not showing in the app. I discovered that their appearance is zoom-level specific. When you are at a very low or high zoom level, the river shows, but for two intermediate zoom levels, the island landmark takes precedence over the river. It also is clear that an "island" landmark needs to match the land background color.

This is in the US, so the lakes are rivers are on a layer of the map we do not have access to in the editor.

The video will be easier to see if you open it in the youtube site or go full-screen, 720p.

mapcat wrote:When navigating to stops by category on a 500+ km route:
Fast food: all the options were at the end (Yelp results - default), and the "calculating time off route" never went away for any of them.

Bank/ATM: same "calculating..." error, although 4Square (default) results came up both at the beginning and end of the route.

Mall: time off route was calculated for some, but not all. List returned by 4Square was ridiculous (combination of malls, strip centers, individual stores, mobile phone kiosks, etc)

Convenience store: everything on the list (4Square - default) appeared to be a supermarket. The (24) symbol is misleading, since some might assume it meant that these stores are open 24 hours. They aren't.

Regarding the "calculating time off route" error - please provide me the exact time it happened (if not for this case then next time it happens) so we can debug the problem.

Regarding Foursquare results- obviously we can't control this provider's results and quality.

mapcat wrote:I've never paid attention before, but when I looked at the three different route options this time, all the reports were concentrated near the left end of the line, making it appear that the police, traffic, etc, were something I'd have to deal with early on in the trip. When I went to the list of reports on my route, however, all of them were close to the end.

We are aware of this issue. It will be handled in the future.

It happened within 10-15 minutes of the time I made the post.

But you can select a different default provider, can't you?

We are aware of this issue. It will be handled in the future.

Thank you.

When I was the waze monster in this beta it showed the monster for the my waze menu icon. I assumed it would always change to your current mood.

Yeah, I am pretty sure the main menu wazer icon should match the currently selected mood. Although, I've only verified that I can see the happy wazer and purple monster.

Yes, you are right, the main menu wazer icon should match the currently selected mood. However it's not displaying the VIP moods. We will fix that.
