since 3.4.9x.xxx betas through 3.5, 3.5.1, I'm unable to even get the app started
can someone please help me to find an older version, say 3.2.2 or its beta, until waze resolve the crashes?

3.5.1 resolved crashing for the majority of users. If you can find an older version the app in your file system, you can drag it into iTunes and sync it over.

If you have not synched with iTunes since the latest Waze upgrade, you can delete the Waze app from your phone and synch with iTunes. This will push the older version to your iPhone.
It is also possible that your iOS could be the culprit, rather than Waze (though I am just guessing).
