Validated roads

Postby aschaft » Wed May 02, 2012 1:30 pm

Hi,

I downloaded Waze this morning, and am quite impressed. I saw there were a couple of roads nearby that still had dots on them, so I went and validated them :). The street I live on wasn't on the map either, so I drove over the missing roads nearby. I thought I would then get a red lined new road on my client, but this hasn't appeared.

From the status page I see that there's a backlog. Would this affect the new road visibility on my client?

You have to enter paving mode to record the road in the client. Not sure if you did that.

However, in general, it is simply easier to go to the Map Editor (see documentation link in my sig) and add it manually from there. You can draw it, connect it to other streets and name it all in one step.

And Alan amazingly forgot to mention that paved or directly added they won't appear on the client (your phone) until the map tiles are updated. The last update was through 12 April, the next one will supposedly happen this weekend and will be through the 30th of April.

That said, welcome and dig in to making the maps better.

I couldn't use the map editor yet, as I had not driven with Waze yet. I looked through the settings, but couldn't find a setting for paving mode. This is on the latest Android client from the Google Play store

Use the ! (report) button at the lower right; "Pave Road" will be the middle option on the bottom row. :)

Can I  at this? Goodnaturedly, of course. ;) There's only two buttons on the screen and you didn't check them both?

Funny of course, but the placement is not intuitive, "paving" is on the second page, so when you press that exclamation mark and see reporting options you immediately switch back thinking that it is not here. I myself was sure for some time that paving was removed from 3,0 client

Ah, you're in landscape mode then. On portrait, all the report menu buttons are on one page.
