Provide list of Hazards in Hazard Report dialog

Postby khaytsus » Fri Apr 30, 2010 11:07 am

This has come up in a few forms, but not for quite a few months so I figured I'd bring it up again.

I'm very often reporting a Road Hazard and most often it's Lane Closed and to emphasize there could be not just a hazard but a traffic issue at that location I like to try to type in Lane Closed in the description but if traffic is moving I can't do that.

What I can however see is a dialog similar to the "Map Problems" dialog where you have a suggested list of hazards, plus an option to freeform enter something. Here are a few which would be handy to be able to simply tap and send:

Lane Closed
Pothole
High Water
Stalled Vehicle

Anyone have more suggestions?

+1

An option for roadworks and/or temporary traffic lights should definitely be there too, and one for faulty traffic signals. Maybe we could use the terminology 'flood' rather than 'high water.'

Since using Android, I've been experimenting with the Voice Recognition for labeling road conditions... Works okay sometimes, but....

Today I said "Right Lane Closed" and it said "Right Wing Hello", so be wary ;)

Generally it actually works decent, like "left lane closed for construction" is bang-on 3/3.... They're doing water main work here in town and my main road into work has one lane closed for a few weeks, each day I pass I mark a hazard there.
