A46 Newark to Widmerpool Improvement

Oh well, it was all for nothing. A week after the road opened along it new route we're still waiting for map updates.

I guess my plans for a side by side Waze/TomTom comparison will have to wait.

The updates are live, luckily I'll be driving it later today so I'll be able to see if any tweaks are needed. :-)

I drove the newest section to open today after the map update and I got 6 miles of cookies!

As it has actually been open 10 days or so there are actually enough tracks to align the road to it's true path, so the next map update will make it even better ...

I also had a look along some of the unopened sections and it looks like there's a Wazer on the construction crew as we have GPS tracks on the bits that haven't been opened ... Nice!

I'll align it to the tracks tomorrow ready for whenever it opens:

If there were already GPS traces of the new road, I wouldn't be counting the points from those 6 miles of cookies just yet. :roll:

Not too bothered about the points (though they are always nice), just like seeing the little guy munching away!

Someones using the new roads! I have an update request on the A46:

General errors. Probably as some roads still marked up as "Under construction".

I can close them off (if you are not getting the UR's) as work in progress if you like?

One of them will be due to the live map not showing that section as being dual carriageway which I have closed, the other I'm not sure about so have requested more details from its originator.

I've driven it a few times and it seems to be working well. I've also gone along its path and "nudged" all the roads to be aligned with the gps tracks.

I love that at least one the construction workers are wazing the not yet open roads :-)

A major section of this road opened yesterday between Cropwell Underbridge and Car Colston.

According to the HA website this section of road will be 70mph!

A46 through traffic will no longer use either of the two Saxondale roundabouts or the A6097 Margidunum roundabout.

I've updated the map accordingly and I'll be driving it both ways tomorrow so if the routes need any nudging I'll sort that as well. All we need now is a map update!

Well as we seem to be heading for a month with no map update again, TWO major sections of the A46 have opened using a completely different path the the old road and been mapped but still do not appear on the live map.

Wonder when we're going to see the benefit of the infrastructure improvements much talked about in Paris and on he Forums :-(
