Hi,
Having stayed at the Westfield in Stratford just after Christmas and driven in out and of it over the new site, I can confirm that it's chaos at the moment. Driving out (choosing the wrong way, given neither Garmin nor Waze have accurate roads, Waze has at least some), there were two other Wazers in the same queue of traffic that I was in, so there is demand even now for accurate roads there. I dropped some URs while not moving, and bulldozed a new track for a missing road. Looking at Cartouche, I see lots of info on the map for someone/people to try and make sense of.

Good luck to the London AMs when the Olympics hit.

Ok, thanks everyone for a good discussion. It seems we need to focus on getting the road infrastructure right as soon as possible. I am very willing to do a lot of work but the east is the area of London I know least about, so can someone else take the lead/co-ordinate? Or should people just drop things to do in this forum thread? Welcome any ideas on how to take this forward.

Well if we can get any of the AMs that surround London to perhaps apply for temporary AM there to be able to edit fully and respond to URs that would be brilliant! Any takers?
Infrastructure, as you say, is the main problem. I only know the A13 past Isle of Dogs and a small bit of Whitechapel.
I'm hoping nearer to the time the URs will begin flooding in, and we can both jump on that (and any other covering AM).

Any chance you (David) could draw up a list of the major roads in and out of the Olympic site, i.e. major A roads, TfL trunks, etc so we can start there and work through it methodically? :) I would do it but don't know it too well.

That's my problem too! But I see what I can dig out this week. Anyone else please feel free to beat me to it. We shouldn't forget that other areas are also holding events not just East London even if that area is the one that needs the most attention regardless of the Olympics.

I will see what I can do as well, I grew up around the Barking / Dagenham area and pop down now and again to visit family. I am not an area manager for the area but I have driven a bit in East London, I'll edit what I have permissions for.

Hi David...

As you can see from the map I don't have much of an area "back home", i'll do what I can in these patches and when I get a free week (or two) i'll apply for AM of E London and see what i can help with. I'm not sure if I am back down again between now and July :-(

Here's a starter for ten:

The Olympic Route Network and Paralympic Route Network (ORN and PRN) are networks of roads linking all the competition and key non-competition venues for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

They will enable key participants, such as athletes and officials, to travel safely, securely and efficiently between venues and their accommodation, while also keeping London and the rest of the UK moving.

Thanks for the link...

This one has more detailed maps of the "games lanes". It also show's the lanes outside of London for the other areas (Weymouth ect...)

And an idea of the impact, presumably we ought to get all the major roads and alternatives working in these areas:
