Junction question.

Postby lizfish » Fri May 18, 2012 12:12 pm

Opinions on this junction please? Quite a sizable piece of grass there, but having read more of the UK guidelines, not sure if I should have left it be? Are there advantages to leaving it alone? (or putting it back. Ooops) There's a temptation to make the Waze map match the road layout, but I know this doesn't always make sense for navigation. It's going to be quite obvious to a driver how they should enter that side turning. I can only learn by asking (or someone overwriting my changes!)

And another one? You could simplify this no end, but should you?

Also should this be a split road even (not offering to fix it though. Scary)There's a barrier of sorts, but the road only widens at this point to accommodate the junction madness so does it still count?

I'd say the first example is okay as a split, though it's not necessary for accurate navigation. Make sure you've enabled all the allowed turns.

As for the second example, that should certainly be simplified as much as possible.

Generally, and road features less than 20m won't be visible on the client.

Or make a difference to navigation since in real world use, GPS is accurate to around 10 metres in good conditions.
